Estimator

Job Status: Full Time Position. Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Location: In–Office Lakeland, FL.

Position Summary: Responsible for the review and analysis of material take-offs for all new master models and revised master model home plans to aid in cost savings. Works with Purchasing Department and field construction managers.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare material and labor budgets for new plans as well as make suggestions to increase our value engineering.
  • Create and issue VPO's to vendors and modify existing budgets/take-offs.
  • Review and validate take-offs and make necessary adjustments.
  • Consult with vendors, personnel in construction departments or construction Superintendents to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
  • Provide cost/benefit analysis for new and existing products.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree or Equivalent experience
  • Must be able to perform consistent, accurate, and detail-oriented work.
  • Must be able to critically think through workflow steps and the interrelation of workflow and impact to other team members.
  • Ability to understand construction means and methods.
  • Ability to read construction plans.
  • Highly motivated
  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality relative to daily work schedule is required

  • Valid driver's license
  • Required:
    • Intermediate computer skills - Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Preferred:
    • Minimum 1 year experience in the residential construction industry.
    • Working knowledge of Planswift Software or similar construction take-off software.
    • Working knowledge of RFMS Flooring or similar takeoff Software.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to consistently operate a computer and other office productivity machinery such as telephone, calculator, copy machine, computer printer, etc.
  • Must be able to communicate with others via phone, email, and in person. Must be able to exchange accurate information with others.
  • Constantly works in an indoor, temperature-controlled, sealed-window office environment.
  • Work primarily involves sitting / standing.
