Job Summary

To lead Absa’s Cash business by delivering market-leading cash management capabilities that enhance client liquidity, reduce risk, and optimise cash handling efficiency, while driving sustainable revenue growth and innovation.

Job Description

  • Define and execute the cash strategy aligned to Business Banking and Group priorities
  • Position Absa as a market leader in cash and liquidity solutions
  • Lead large, multi-disciplinary teams across product, sales, operations, and partnerships
  • Contribute to Exco-level decision-making and business performance
  • Drive innovation to improve speed, visibility, and liquidity outcomes for clients
  • Ensure solutions reduce operational risk and optimise end-to-end cash cycles
  • Deliver on revenue, balance sheet, and profitability targets
  • Grow market share across SME, Commercial, and Corporate segments
  • Identify new revenue streams and partnerships across the cash value chain
  • Champion a client-centric approach by designing solutions that meet evolving business needs
  • Build strong relationships with key clients, industry bodies, and partners (e.g. CIT providers, fintechs)
  • Monitor market, regulatory, and competitor trends to inform strategy
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, operational risk, and governance frameworks
  • Embed strong controls across the cash lifecycle to reduce risk exposure
  • Drive a culture of accountability and risk awareness
  • Lead digitisation and automation of cash processes
  • Accelerate adoption of real-time, on-demand cash solutions
  • Partner with Technology and Product teams to deliver scalable, future-fit platform

Qualifications & Experience

  • MBA / Master / Min a Postgraduate qualification in finance
  • 12–15+ years’ experience in banking, payments, or cash management
  • Proven track record in executive leadership roles, managing large portfolios
  • Deep understanding of:
    • Cash management and liquidity solutions
    • Payments ecosystem and financial services trends
    • Commercial and SME client environments
