Established as the Singapore Freight Forwarders Association in 1973, the association was renamed Singapore Logistics Association (SLA) in 1999 to reflect the growth and wide-ranging activities of its members.

Today, SLA has close to 700 members, predominantly logistics enterprises, and stays anchored in its mission to support and sustain a vibrant and thriving ecosystem for the logistics sector through active industry participation and collaborations with both local and international logistics partners. Offering a wide range of targeted programmes and initiatives to help enterprises be future ready, SLA also constantly reviews and explores forward-looking initiatives to help logistics companies implement business transformation improvements to emerge stronger and ahead of competition.

To nurture a pipeline of global and future ready logistics talents for the industry, The Logistics Academy, a wholly owned subsidiary training arm of SLA was incorporated in 2010 to provide human capital and skills development courses to empower and deepen the skills of the workforce for the logistics sector.

RESPONSIBILITIES

About the Role

We are looking for someone who is hands-on, curious and willing to learn!

The Executive Officer, Communications & Industry Development will support SLA Group's corporate communications and industry development functions. The role will focus mainly on corporate communications, with approximately 70% of the work covering content writing, social media management, website updates, video editing, newsletters, annual reports, marketing materials, branding support and event publicity for the SLA Group. The remaining 30% will cover industry development support, including business missions, international projects, stakeholder coordination, committee support and membership matters.

Key Responsibilities

Corporate Communications - 70%

  • Manage and execute communications work across SLA's platforms, including the website, social media, EDMs, e-newsletters, annual reports, event publicity materials and other corporate communication channels.
  • Write, edit and update content for digital platforms, marketing materials, event publicity, post-event coverage and other assigned communications.
  • Manage SLA's social media platforms, including content creation, scheduling, posting, monitoring, engagement tracking and basic reporting.
  • Manage EDM and e-newsletter execution, including content updates, layout, circulation, tracking and related follow-ups.
  • Maintain SLA's website, communications calendar and digital content records.
  • Develop and edit visuals, videos and communication materials using approved tools.
  • Capture photos, videos and content during events, business missions, member activities and industry initiatives.
  • Support publicity and post-event communications for SLA events, business missions, member activities and industry initiatives.
  • Track media coverage, website performance, EDM performance and social media analytics, and prepare basic updates where required.
  • Handle general enquiries received through SLA's official social media channels.
  • Support branding consistency across SLA Group materials.

Industry Development - 30%

  • Support the planning, coordination and execution of events, business missions, trade exhibitions, delegation visits, roundtables, and other industry development projects.
  • Coordinate programme arrangements, liaise with stakeholders, manage logistics and registration, and support onsite execution and post-event follow-up.
  • Administer event registration, participant records, payment tracking, invoicing coordination and related follow-ups for reporting and reconciliation.
  • Support grant administration, claims documentation, submission tracking and follow-ups for approved grants or funding support.
  • Prepare and update presentation slides, briefing notes, meeting documents, event materials, follow-up records and project updates.
  • Provide administrative support for assigned committees, taskforce, working groups, procurement, event logistics, membership renewal matters and ISO 9001:2015 documentation where required.
  • Carry out other duties assigned by management from time to time.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Diploma or Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Mass Communication, Journalism, Digital Media, Business, International Business, Event Management or a related discipline.
  • Fresh graduates may apply, but candidates should provide samples of writing, design, social media content or video editing work.
OTHER INFORMATION

Skills and Competencies

  • Good writing, editing and proofreading skills.
  • Creative, with a good sense of design, layout, captions and audience engagement.
  • Able to do video editing for social media, event highlights and promotional content.
  • Proficient in Canva and Microsoft Office applications. Knowledge of CapCut, Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro or similar tools will be an advantage.
  • Familiar with LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok and relevant social media channels.
  • Organised, detail-oriented and able to manage deadlines.
  • Comfortable engaging members, partners, vendors and senior stakeholders.
  • Willing to support occasional evening or weekend events and overseas work trips when required.
