Experienced Accountant

Excellium is seeking an Experienced Accountant. This role will be instrumental in overseeing the financial operations of the company, ensuring financial accuracy, and providing strategic financial insights<\/span><\/span><\/span>
<\/span><\/span><\/p>

  • Manage and\nmeticulously maintain all financial records, including complex accounts\npayable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and fixed asset registers.<\/span>
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Ensure\naccurate and timely processing of all financial transactions, verifying\nsupporting documentation and necessary approvals.<\/span>
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Oversee\npetty cash management, ensuring controls, timely reconciliations, and adherence\nto company policies.<\/span>
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Perform reconciliations\nof bank statements, sub\-ledgers to general ledger, and other critical accounts,\ninvestigating and resolving discrepancies promptly.<\/span>
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Preparation\nof accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements\n(e.g. Statement of Financial Position, Statement of Profit or Loss and Other\nComprehensive Income, Statement of Cash Flows).<\/span>
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Generate and\nanalyze various financial reports for management, providing insightful\ncommentary on variances and financial performance.<\/span>
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Drive the\nefficient execution of month\-end and year\-end closing procedures, ensuring all\nentries are posted and reconciled.<\/span>
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Support the\nannual budgeting process and provide input for financial forecasting.<\/span>
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Monitor\nexpenditures against budgets, identify significant variances, and provide\ndetailed explanations to management.<\/span>
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Conduct\nbasic financial analysis to support decision\-making, including trend analysis\nand cost\-benefit analysis.<\/span>
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Implement\nand maintain strong internal financial controls to safeguard company assets and\nensure data integrity.<\/span>
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Ensure\nstrict adherence to local accounting standards, company policies, and relevant\nNigerian regulatory requirements (e.g., FIRS, LIRS, CAC, NSITF, PENCOM).<\/span>
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Prepare and\nsubmit accurate tax computations (e.g., Company Income Tax, Value Added Tax,\nWithholding Tax, Pay As You Earn) and ensure timely remittance to relevant\nauthorities.<\/span>
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Coordinate\nand facilitate internal and external audit processes, providing necessary\ndocumentation and explanations to auditors.<\/span>
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Stay updated\nwith changes in Nigerian tax laws and accounting regulations, advising\nmanagement on potential impacts.<\/span>
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Identify\nopportunities to streamline accounting processes, enhance efficiency, and\nimprove accuracy through automation or procedural changes.<\/span>
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Develop and\nupdate accounting policies and procedures as required.<\/span>
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Liaise\neffectively with management, external auditors, tax consultants, and financial\ninstitutions.<\/span>
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Manage\nvendor and client accounts, resolving complex billing issues and ensuring\ntimely collections for accounts receivable.<\/span>

    Requirements<\/h3>
    • Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related course<\/span>
      <\/span><\/li>
    • Either ATS Certification or ICAN/ACCA Certification started\nor completed<\/span>
      <\/span><\/li>
    • Minimum of 3 years <\/b>of progressive work experience as\nan Accountant role in a structured organization.<\/span>
      <\/span><\/li>
    • Demonstrated experience in preparing full sets of accounts\nand financial statements.<\/span>
      <\/span><\/li>
    • Proven experience with tax computations and filings in\nNigeria.<\/span>
      <\/span><\/li>
    • Proficiency in accounting software packages<\/span>
      <\/span><\/li>
    • Expert\-level proficiency in Microsoft Office for financial\nanalysis and reporting.<\/span>
      <\/span><\/li>
    • Strong grasp of Nigerian tax laws.<\/span>
      <\/span><\/li>
    • Exceptional analytical and problem\-solving skills with a\nkeen eye for detail and accuracy.<\/span>
      <\/span><\/li>
    • Strong organizational and time management abilities, capable\nof managing multiple priorities and meeting strict deadlines.<\/span>
      <\/span><\/li>
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the\nability to present financial information clearly and concisely.<\/span>
      <\/span><\/li>
    • High level of integrity, discretion, and confidentiality in\nhandling sensitive financial information.<\/span>
      <\/span><\/li>
    • Proactive, self\-motivated, and capable of working\nindependently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.<\/span><\/span>
      <\/li>
    • Must be willing to resume immediately.<\/span><\/span>

    • Preferably live around Magodo, Ikeja, Ogudu and Environs
