Field Service Tech
Support preventive and corrective maintenance activities, performing basic electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic repairs on cranes and equipment; assist in diagnosing medium-complexity issues and support repairs according to manufacturer guidelines; read and interpret technical drawings, follow manuals and planned tasks to ensure timely and quality execution; prepare basic technical reports; comply with Quality, Environmental, and Occupational Health and Safety policies; follow safety standards, including continuous risk assessment (IPERC) and required permits; and drive company vehicles when required, following safety standards.
Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance (electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic repairs)
- Support troubleshooting and repairs (basic / medium complexity) in cranes and truck cranes (mechanical, hydraulic, electrical systems)
- Support major and minor repairs, calibrations, and system adjustments according to manufacturer guidelines
- Read and interpret hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical drawings and follow manuals
- Follow safety standards, including IPERC, risk assessment, and high-risk work permits
- Prepare technical reports of maintenance and repairs
- Support planning and execution of maintenance activities.
Required Skills / Abilities
- Basic knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems
- Ability to perform preventive and corrective maintenance
- Skills to troubleshoot and repair equipment (basic to medium complexity)
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and manuals
- Basic knowledge of calibration and system adjustments
- Ability to follow safety standards, risk assessment (IPERC), and work permits
- Skills to prepare basic technical reports
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Good attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Basic computer skills (for reports and documentation)
- Valid driver’s license and ability to drive
Required Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Technical degree (Heavy Equipment, Automotive Mechanics, Electrical for mobile equipment, or related field) with proven experience in heavy equipment maintenance; engineering degree is a plus
- Minimum 4 years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance
- At least 3 years of specific experience with large mobile cranes
- Proven experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting diesel engines, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems (basic to medium complexity, with exposure to advanced cases)
- Experience in maintenance of mobile cranes, lifting equipment, and heavy machinery
- Working knowledge of electronic systems in cranes (e.g., Grove, Palfinger, HIAB, JLG is desirable)
- Ability to read and interpret hydraulic and electrical diagrams (intermediate level)
- Knowledge of mining standards and high-risk work environments
- Familiarity with safety procedures, including permits and risk assessment (IPERC)
- Valid driver’s license.
Work Environment:
- Work is performed on-site in a mining environment
- Exposure to harsh conditions, including dust, noise, vibration, and extreme weather (heat, cold, rain)
- Work may be performed outdoors and in remote locations
- Frequent use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- May involve working at heights and in confined spaces
- Work may require shift schedules and extended hours depending on operational needs
