Field Technician (Instrument)
Role:
The Field Technician (Instrument) is responsible to perform the below tasks but not limited to,
• Assist in carrying out preventive maintenance tasks of all instruments at UF/RO facility under supervision.
• Support senior technicians in troubleshooting malfunctions and operating defects.
• Under the guidance of senior technicians, assist in plant modification works related to instrumentation.
• Help in replacing and installing specified parts and making required adjustments.
• Assist in executing required preventative maintenance procedures.
• Support in ensuring equipment runs correctly and assist during emergency repairs when required.
• Maintain and organize tools regularly under supervision.
• Provide support to WH/Store keeper for necessary spare parts inventory management.
• On-call availability and shift work with various schedules may also be required.
• Maintain good housekeeping and adhere to EHS regulations and requirements.
• Perform regular tool inspections under guidance.
• Assist with the development of operational quality system procedures/guidelines/documents for Water Treatment.
• Adhere to EHS & Quality processes and procedures, and report potential hazards at job sites.
• Maintain appropriate housekeeping for plant facilities cooperating with other departments.
• Work under supervision and report regularly to supervisors.
• Learn to determine reasons for malfunctions of systems or components.
• Participate in training programs to develop technical skills.
• Assist in documentation and record-keeping of maintenance activities.
• Support in material handling and preparation for maintenance work.
• Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
• Perform other tasks as directed.
• Diploma in Electrical & Electronics/Instrumentation & Control discipline or ITI in Instrumentation or Instrument trade certificate (2 Years course).
• Minimum 6 years work experience (3 years for Diploma holders, 8 years for ITI technicians), with at least 2 years maintenance work experience, preferably in water & waste water treatment plant/Desalination plant/RO plant/power/petroleum/chemical or any other continuous manufacturing process industry.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Good knowledge of the concept of Automation.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Ability to repair/calibrate all online process instruments.
• Capable of understanding P&ID, Instrument loop diagrams, and JB & control panel wiring diagrams.
• Proficient in basic MS-OFFICE applications.
• Ability to work with minimum supervision.
• Strong commitment to safety and quality.
Desired Characteristics
• Experience in water/wastewater treatment plant activities.
• Working experience in GCC country.
• Capable of troubleshooting all process & analyzer instruments.
• PLC/SCADA knowledge would be advantageous but not essential.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Results oriented with customer focus.
