Job Summary:
The Field Technician plays a critical role in supporting Clear Water Services' field operations by performing a variety of environmental services related to water treatment, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, groundwater remediation, and construction runoff compliance. This position supports the installation, operation, maintenance, and monitoring of treatment systems and erosion control Best Management Practices (BMPs) across active project sites.
Working closely with Lead and Senior Lead Technicians, the Field Technician helps ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with environmental regulations and client requirements. The ideal candidate enjoys hands-on work, possesses strong mechanical aptitude, and is comfortable working outdoors in dynamic field environments.
This role is well-suited for individuals with experience in erosion control, stormwater management, environmental services, construction, landscaping, water treatment, plumbing, or related trades. Success in this position requires adaptability, problem-solving skills, a commitment to safety, and a willingness to travel throughout California to support project needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate, monitor, and maintain water treatment systems in the field
- Support installation, mobilization, and demobilization of treatment systems and erosion control solutions
- Assist with equipment preparation, maintenance, and readiness for deployment
- Perform routine inspections and troubleshooting of pumps, valves, motors, and related equipment
- Maintain field logs, reports, and project documentation
- Support shop and yard operations, including organization, cleaning, and equipment staging
- Follow all safety procedures, environmental regulations, and company policies
- Collaborate with team members, contractors, and project stakeholders to support successful project execution
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with basic hand and power tools
- Strong organizational, troubleshooting, and time management skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, contractors, and team members
- Experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Erosion and sediment control
- Construction
- Stormwater management
- Water treatment
- Landscaping
- Plumbing or pipefitting
- Ability to perform physical work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience installing and maintaining erosion and sediment control Best Management Practices (BMPs), including silt fence, fiber rolls, inlet protection, track-out control, hydroseeding, erosion control blankets, and sediment containment systems
- Experience supporting stormwater compliance or construction site environmental controls
- Experience with pumps, valves, motors, and water treatment equipment
- Forklift certification or experience operating forklifts
- Experience towing trailers and transporting equipment
- Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and environmental regulations
- Experience reading site plans, SWPPPs, or erosion control plans
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
This position is primarily performed outdoors on active construction and project sites throughout Northern California, with occasional travel to support projects in Southern California, the Pacific Northwest, and Midwest regions.
Employees should be comfortable working in varying weather conditions and may occasionally be required to work extended hours, weekends, or holidays based on project demands.
Travel is expected to be approximately 30%
