We are seeking a commercially minded Finance Business Partner to join our Enterprise Finance team in Sydney. This is a key role partnering closely with business unit leaders and operational teams to provide financial insight, analysis and advice that supports strong commercial performance, robust forecasting and effective financial control.

The opportunity
As a Finance Business Partner, you will build trusted relationships between Finance and the business, acting as a key advisor on financial performance, project financials, working capital and strategic planning. You will help drive informed decision-making by providing timely reporting, meaningful analysis and practical commercial guidance.
This role will suit someone who enjoys being close to the business — not just reporting the numbers, but helping leaders understand what they mean, what actions are required, and how financial outcomes can be optimised.

What you’ll do
In this role, you will:

  • Act as the primary Finance contact for your business group, providing trusted advice on financial matters, business performance and project financials.
  • Support strategic planning, budgeting and forecasting processes, including annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, pipeline, backlog and working capital requirements.
  • Prepare and review P&L reporting down to operating profit, including detailed variance analysis and monthly management reporting packs.
  • Monitor operational expenditure, review business KPIs and identify exceptions across pipeline, people, projects and payment.
  • Prepare accruals and accounting journals to support accurate reporting of business profitability and revenue recognition.
  • Partner with stakeholders on project accounting, compliance requirements, audit requests and revenue recognition matters.
  • Provide ad hoc analysis and insight to support business unit and regional management decision-making.

About you
You are an astute finance professional who is confident working in a complex, project-based environment. You know how to combine financial discipline with commercial pragmatism, and you are comfortable influencing stakeholders through clear analysis, sound judgement and trusted advice.
You will bring:

  • CA, CPA or equivalent professional accreditation.
  • 5+ years’ experience in management accounting and project-based environments.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, contracts and project accounting within a services environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with forecasting, budgeting and financial reporting in a large organisation.
  • Advanced Excel capability and strong business intelligence reporting skills.
  • Experience using large ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle, along with Microsoft Office, Power BI and KPI reporting tools.
  • The ability to act as a trusted advisor, supporting business leaders to achieve financial requirements and strategic goals.
