Position Status: Full Time (40 hours/week), Permanent
The Otipemisiwak Métis Government is recruiting for a full-time Finance Officer to join the Finance team. Reporting to the Director of Finance, this role is primarily responsible for the administrative functions related to Accounts Receivable (AR), bookkeeping, and maintaining files. This position requires a high sense of confidentiality. The successful candidate will have experience working with SAGE 300/ACCPAC, PO systems and AR, and will have strong attention to detail. The Finance Officer must be a strong team player, possess exceptional attention to detail, and have solid communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform administrative tasks related to month-end procedures, purchase orders, and AR.
- Assist with monthly reconciliation and reporting.
- Correspond with vendors and maintain vendor files.
- File invoices, purchase orders, and other finance documents.
- Monitor status of payments and investigate any missing payments.
- Liaise with Otipemisiwak Métis Government staff, external stakeholders, affiliates, and entities.
- Review all bills and statements from providers to ensure accuracy and communicate with providers regarding any discrepancies, working in collaboration with Finance Leadership, as required.
- Work collaboratively with other Finance team members, as required.
- Present a positive and professional image of the organization when interacting with employees, citizens, visitors, and other external stakeholders.
- Other duties as required or assigned.

- Current working knowledge of SAGE 300 (ACCPAC) is an asset.

- Strong sense of ethics and demonstrated ability to handle sensitive or confidential information with tact and discretion.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated time management skills with an ability to effectively manage and prioritize requests, multi-task, and meet tight deadlines.

- Knowledge of Métis history, culture, and issues affecting Métis people. An in-depth understanding of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government and Métis culture, people, and values is an asset.
Qualifications
- Post secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Five (5) years of experience in accounting.
- Experience with SAGE 300 is an asset.
- Experience working in a non-profit, government, or Indigenous organization is an asset.
Other Requirements
- Position is based in Edmonton; in-office presence is required.
- Ability to work a regular schedule of Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM, as well as occasional evenings and weekends.
- Ability to travel throughout the province of Alberta, with notice.
- Reliable transportation and a valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
- Acceptable attainment of a Police Information Check is required.
