Financial Accountant
Your Role as Financial Accountant
Reporting to the Lead Financial Accountant, you will be responsible for supporting month-end processes, statutory reporting, and financial integrity across the organisation.
You’ll combine strong technical skills with a collaborative approach, working closely with both finance and operational teams to deliver accurate, insightful and timely financial information.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading by example, demonstrating behaviours aligned with WMQ’s values of integrity, respect, empowerment, hope, justice, compassion and innovation.
Maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, chart of accounts, fixed asset register and depreciation schedules.
Preparing and reconcile balance sheet accounts, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
Assisting with statutory compliance, including BAS, GST, FBT, payroll tax and other regulatory reporting requirements.
Supporting the preparation of financial reports, year-end financial statements and external audits.
Contributing to budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling and strategic financial analysis.
Assisting with cash flow reporting, treasury activities and financial reconciliations.
Driving process improvements, strengthen internal controls, and support system enhancements and SOP maintenance.

What We’re Looking For
A bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance plus CA/CPA qualification (or equivalent).
Experience in financial and statutory reporting.
Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards.
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis).
Experience with ERP systems (TechnologyOne and/or Power BI highly regarded).
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate financial data for non-financial stakeholders.
High attention to detail and a commitment to quality.

Experience in not-for-profit, health, aged care, or community services
Exposure to multi-entity or multi-cost centre environments
Essential Requirements
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination status (or as required by legislation and WMQ policy)
Relevant probity checks required by legislation and WMQ Limited policy.
Current Driver’s Licence and willingness to travel for work
