Role Summary
As the Financial Controller – Kenya, you will be responsible for leading financial control activities for the Kenya business while working as part of a virtual global finance organization. You will own the month-end close process, statutory reporting, tax compliance, balance sheet governance, and financial reporting, while partnering closely with Commercial Finance, Supply Chain, Treasury, Tax, and Group Finance teams. This role offers significant exposure to senior stakeholders and provides the opportunity to drive process improvements that strengthen financial performance and governance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all financial control activities for the Kenya market, ensuring strong governance, accuracy, and compliance.
- Own the Month-End Close process, including financial reporting, overhead analysis, cash flow forecasting, and balance sheet management.
- Manage statutory reporting, external audits, VAT filings, corporate tax compliance, and regulatory reporting within agreed timelines.
- Partner with Commercial Finance, Supply Chain, Treasury, Tax, and Group Finance teams to provide financial insights and business support.
- Drive Record-to-Report (R2R) process improvements, balance sheet reconciliations, financial controls, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Monitor overhead spending, accruals, and budget performance while identifying opportunities to improve financial processes and operational efficiency.
What Does It Take to Be Successful in This Role?
- Strong Financial Controllership Experience – 10+ years of experience in Financial Controlling, Record-to-Report (R2R), and Financial Accounting within an international organization, with strong expertise in financial reporting and statutory compliance.
- Technical Accounting Expertise – Deep knowledge of IFRS, VAT, Corporate Tax, external audits, balance sheet governance, month-end close, and cash flow management, with hands-on experience managing statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Systems & Industry Knowledge – Strong experience with SAP S/4HANA (or similar ERP platforms), advanced Excel, and finance transformation initiatives. Big 4 experience will be an added advantage.
- Business Partnering & Stakeholder Management – Excellent communication and influencing skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across Commercial Finance, Supply Chain, Treasury, Tax, Group Finance, auditors, and senior business leaders.
- Leadership & Continuous Improvement Mindset – A proactive, results-oriented finance leader with a strong sense of ownership, the ability to challenge the status quo, drive process improvements, and deliver high-quality outcomes in a dynamic global environment.
