AMI is looking for an ambitious and talented Financial Inclusion and Fintech Expert (Consultant)<\/i><\/b> to design and develop practical, accessible and actionable learning tools and resources that help young women entrepreneurs understand, access, and confidently use financial and fintech solutions available in Kenya.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>

Responsibilities<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/span><\/span>

  • Build the Fintech Knowledge Layer:<\/span><\/span><\/b> Take ownership of constructing the fintech knowledge baseline within the DigiThrive program.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>
    <\/p><\/li>

  • Develop Learning Tools:<\/span><\/span><\/b> Design practical materials covering access to finance requirements, borrowing practices, loan limits, repayment terms, and sustainable financing strategies.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>
    <\/p><\/li>

  • Conduct Market Scans:<\/span><\/span><\/b> Complete a comprehensive market scan of fintech solutions and financial service providers in Kenya relevant to agri\-food micro\-enterprises.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>
    <\/p><\/li>

  • Map & Profile Providers:<\/span><\/span><\/b> Identify and map reputable financial institutions and fintech providers suitable for program participants.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>
    <\/p><\/li>

  • Define Selection Criteria:<\/span><\/span><\/b> Outline clear selection criteria for fintech solutions based on the financial realities of young women entrepreneurs in the agriculture value chain.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>
    <\/p><\/li>

  • Provider Engagement:<\/span><\/span><\/b> Engage directly with fintech providers to gather deep insights on product offerings, usability, and eligibility requirements.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>
    <\/p><\/li>

  • Create a Product Directory:<\/span><\/span><\/b> Build a curated, highly user\-friendly directory of relevant financial products and services.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>
    <\/p><\/li>

  • Draft Safeguarding Memorandums:<\/span><\/span><\/b> Develop a safeguarding advisory memo highlighting risks, responsible usage, and warning signs around predatory lending.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>
    <\/p><\/li>

  • Ensure Gender Responsiveness:<\/span><\/span><\/b> Guarantee that all completed assets are gender\-responsive, practical, and simple to digest for entrepreneurs with lower financial or digital literacy.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>
    <\/p><\/li>

  • Consolidate Learning Content:<\/span><\/span><\/b> Collaborate with the team to synthesize outputs into a standalone, accessible e\-booklet that features fintech profiles and responsible borrowing guidance.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>

    Requirements<\/h3>
    • High\-level domain expertise in Kenya's digital financial services and fintech ecosystem, with a proven track record of working within the MSME space.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>
      <\/p><\/li>

    • Demonstrated experience creating practical toolkits, e\-books, or instructional learning resources designed for micro\-enterprises or entrepreneurs.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>
      <\/p><\/li>

    • Strong research and analytical capabilities \u2014 able to independently profile, map and evaluate financial products and services.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>
      <\/p><\/li>

    • Exceptional ability to translate dense, complex financial concepts into clear, relatable, and actionable content for non\-expert audiences.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>
      <\/p><\/li>

    • Experience developing training or learning content specifically tailored to MSMEs, with an understanding of the practical challenges facing micro\-enterprise owners.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>
      <\/p><\/li>

    • Familiarity with gender\-responsive programming or women's economic empowerment (WEE) initiatives.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>
      <\/p><\/li>

    • Experience or contextual understanding of agribusiness or agri\-food value chains in Kenya is an added advantage.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>
      <\/p><\/li>

    • Prior exposure to donor\-funded or development\-focused programmes operating in the financial inclusion space is an added advantage.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>
