About the Team

The Oncology Services team supports patients throughout their cancer care journey by coordinating clinical, financial, and supportive services. The Financial Navigation function works closely with clinical staff, patient financial services, and external payers to ensure every patient has timely access to the treatments they need by removing financial and insurance-related barriers.

Mission for Position

To ensure every oncology patient has clear, timely financial guidance and uninterrupted access to care by proactively managing insurance, authorizations, and financial assistance resources.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Guide patients through insurance, billing, and financial assistance processes.

  • Verify insurance benefits and maintain accurate coverage information.

  • Manage all prior authorizations for infusion, oral chemotherapy, radiation, and VA services

  • Track authorization expirations, renewals, appeals, and required documentation (including RFS forms).

  • Coordinate financial assistance programs (co-pay grants, free drug programs, patient assistance, living-expense support).

  • Monitor assistance balances and ensure timely delivery of medications.

  • Assist with mileage reimbursement, cost estimates, and MNSure applications.

  • Support PET scan services by validating payable codes and assisting with appeals.

  • Provide cross-coverage for oncology scheduling, prior authorization functions, pharmacy coordination, denials management, and insurance verification.

  • Maintain timely, accurate documentation in Epic and related systems.

  • Collaborate with clinical staff, financial services, and social services to support patient needs.

  • Respond to patient questions regarding coverage and billing with empathy and clarity.
