Fintech Engineer

In Maybank, we are seeking a hands-on, execution-focused professional with strong domain and technical understanding to support the delivery of fintech initiatives within the Fintech & Emerging Tech Centre of Excellence (CoE).

This role is responsible for bridging business requirements and technology delivery— enabling PoCs, supporting integrations, and ensuring successful pilot-to-production outcomes.

You will work at the intersection of business, technology, and external fintech partners to design, validate, and operationalize scalable solutions across priority domains.

Key Responsibilities

Business Analysis & Requirement Engineering

  • Elicit, analyze, and document business, functional, and non-functional requirements across fintech initiatives.

  • Translate business needs into detailed functional specifications, user stories, process flows, and data requirements.

  • Facilitate workshops with stakeholders to define use cases, journeys, and success criteria.

  • Perform gap analysis between current and target state processes and systems.

Solution Design & Tech Translation

  • Act as a bridge between business and engineering teams to ensure clear interpretation of requirements into system design.

  • Define solution workflows, sequence diagrams, and integration touchpoints.

  • Support API/interface specification, including request/response structures and data mapping.

  • Contribute to solution architecture discussions with a focus on feasibility, scalability, and maintainability.

PoC, Sandbox & Delivery Support

  • Support end-to-end PoC execution including use case definition, data preparation, testing scenarios, and success metrics.

  • Assist in configuring sandbox environments and validating solution outputs against business expectations.

  • Develop test cases, UAT plans, and validation frameworks.

  • Track PoC outcomes and document insights for decision-making.

Integration & Data Analysis

  • Work on API-based integrations, including requirement definition, payload validation, and testing.

  • Perform data mapping, transformation logic definition, and reconciliation checks across systems.

  • Analyze system interactions and troubleshoot integration or data issues during testing phases.

Governance, Risk & Documentation

  • Ensure requirements and solutions comply with technology standards, security requirements, and regulatory expectations.

  • Support third-party onboarding by documenting functional flows, data handling, and control points.

  • Prepare BRDs, FSDs, solution design documents, and governance materials for internal review forums.

Role Requirements

  • 7–12 years of experience as a techno-functional analyst or in software development roles in banking, fintech, or technology-driven environments.

  • Domain knowledge in one or more areas - Payments, Trade Finance, Wealth, Digital Platforms, or Data & AI.

  • Strong experience in requirement gathering, functional analysis, and documentation (BRD/Tech specs/user stories).

  • Working knowledge of APIs (REST/JSON), system integration methods, and data flows.

  • Familiarity with technical concepts such as microservices, cloud environments, and system architecture basics.

  • Hands-on exposure to PoCs, UAT, testing cycles, and implementation support.

  • Experience in data analysis, mapping, and reconciliation across systems.

  • Understanding of security, regulatory, and third-party risk considerations in banking.

  • Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum, user stories, sprint cycles).

  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and problem-solving skills. Communicate complex technical concepts in a clear, business-friendly manner.

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, finance, or related fields.
