The Fleet Shop Foreman is responsible for performing and documenting diagnostics, PM and repairs to vehicles, managing and supporting the technician staff, as well as, administration functions of the department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs inspections and preventive maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
  • Diagnoses, rebuilds, and repairs vehicles and equipment.
  • Leads, assists, mentors the assigned Fleet Technicians in their duties
  • Ensures all vehicle maintenance and repairs are documented in the computerized Fleet Information System.
  • Coordinates vehicle repair and logistics with crews and management; coordinates and approves parts and internal/external service orders.
  • Participates in technician recruitment and selection process
  • Performs administrative duties as required

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibrations.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme weather conditions.
  • Noise level in the work environment can be loud.
  • This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.

Qualifications:

  • 5 years technical experience in the diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of motor vehicle and/or light trucks
  • Ability to properly document all maintenance and repairs in written format, in the computerized Fleet Information System.
  • Leadership Experience
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record
  • Self-confidence, emotional stability, good judgment, and tolerance for high stress
  • Possess good verbal communication skills .
  • Knowledge of diagnostic procedures and equipment, fleet maintenance management systems, and telematics systems.
  • Working competencies with MS Office programs.
  • Prior ambulance or emergency vehicle and equipment knowledge and understanding of various state requirements
  • ASE or manufacturer’s Certification preferred
  • Proficiency in light diesel and gas truck engines preferred.
