Food Safety, Risk and Maintenance Manager - Aged Care

The Food Safety, Compliance & Maintenance Manager ensures all food, dining and hospitality environments across Residential Care and Retirement Living meet the highest safety, regulatory and operational standards.

You will lead our HACCP‑based Food Safety Program, ensure compliance with FSANZ Standard 3.3.1, oversee training in safe food handling and hygiene, and manage the maintenance and safety of kitchen and catering equipment.

Working closely with chefs, facility teams, property and procurement, you will help deliver safe, high‑quality, person‑centred hospitality services.

In this role you will:

  • Lead a safety‑first culture across hospitality teams.

  • Deliver food safety training and maintain audit‑ready competency records.

  • Manage audit readiness and ensure timely communication of key milestones.

  • Oversee the Food Safety Program and close audit actions on time.

  • Ensure systems compliance (LeeCare, Smithkit, P2P).

  • Standardise critical controls and verify through audits and spot checks.

  • Manage preventive maintenance for kitchen and food service equipment.

  • Monitor risks and incidents using RiskMan.

  • Oversee supplier and contractor performance, ensuring quality, safety and preferred‑supplier compliance.

Our expectations are that you have:

  • Experience leading food safety and compliance in aged care or healthcare.

  • Strong knowledge of HACCP, FSANZ, and Food Authority requirements.

  • Experience in commercial kitchen maintenance and equipment safety.

  • Proficiency with operational and incident management systems.

  • Strong vendor management and stakeholder communication skills.

It would be advantageous if you had:

  • Food Safety Supervisor certification.

  • Knowledge of the Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards 2025.

  • Experience with allergen management and IDDSI.

  • Exposure to sustainability in sourcing.

  • Continuous improvement or Lean/Six Sigma skills.
