UW-Milwaukee is seeking a Food Service Assistant to prepare food and complete related tasks according to quality and safety standards to ensure satisfaction and achieve departmental food service goals. This position will provide oversight for the set-up and maintenance of all front of the house service-related tasks and ensures a clean and safe service area, while working closely with students, student managers, and limited term employees to serve customers.
Availability/Schedule:
Weekend and evening availability is required with a tentative schedule of Tuesday - Saturday - 12:00pm-8:30pm and 11:00am-7:30pm (Saturday)
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Performs routine food preparation activities such as portioning, chopping food, and serving food to customers (20%)
- Assists and guides student workers (20%)
- Greets customers, answers questions, and provides basic information regarding food preparation and associated activities (20%)
- Prepares a variety of basic dishes and assists in the preparation of more complex dishes (10%)
- Cleans, inspects, and maintains kitchen equipment and work areas (10%)
- Adheres to federal, state, and local food safety regulations, policies, and procedures (10%)
- Coordinate and perform the set-up and clean-up of preparation, production, service areas, and equipment (10%)

$16.00 - $18.00 an hour
Required Qualifications:
Six months of food service experience in a professional setting
Preferred Qualifications:
One year of food service experience in a professional setting
ServSafe Certification, Food Handler or Manager certification
Experience leading and /or training staff
Experience in a customer service environment
