Foods Teacher (Grades 7–12) – Job Description

  • Teach foundational cooking and nutrition concepts to high school students
  • Instruct students in food preparation techniques, kitchen safety, and proper sanitation practices
  • Plan and deliver hands-on lessons in cooking, baking, meal planning, and food presentation
  • Introduce basic nutrition principles, including healthy eating habits and dietary awareness
  • Develop lesson plans that build practical life skills, organization, and time management
  • Supervise students in a kitchen environment, ensuring safe and responsible use of equipment
  • Assess student learning through practical labs, assignments, and participation
  • Maintain kitchen facilities, inventory, and food supplies within a set budget
  • Foster a positive, inclusive classroom that encourages collaboration and confidence
  • Support school events or programs that involve food preparation (e.g., catering, fundraisers)
  • Communicate student progress with parents/guardians and collaborate with staff as needed
