Foods Teacher (Grades 7–12) – Job Description
- Teach foundational cooking and nutrition concepts to high school students
- Instruct students in food preparation techniques, kitchen safety, and proper sanitation practices
- Plan and deliver hands-on lessons in cooking, baking, meal planning, and food presentation
- Introduce basic nutrition principles, including healthy eating habits and dietary awareness
- Develop lesson plans that build practical life skills, organization, and time management
- Supervise students in a kitchen environment, ensuring safe and responsible use of equipment
- Assess student learning through practical labs, assignments, and participation
- Maintain kitchen facilities, inventory, and food supplies within a set budget
- Foster a positive, inclusive classroom that encourages collaboration and confidence
- Support school events or programs that involve food preparation (e.g., catering, fundraisers)
- Communicate student progress with parents/guardians and collaborate with staff as needed
