Force Field Scientist

We’re seeking a Force Fields Scientist to join us in our mission to improve human health and quality of life by transforming the discovery of therapeutics and materials!

Schrödinger has pioneered a physics-based software platform that enables discovery of high-quality, novel molecules for drug development and materials applications more rapidly and at lower cost compared to traditional methods. The software platform is used by biopharmaceutical and industrial companies, academic institutions, and government laboratories around the world. Our multidisciplinary drug discovery team also leverages the software platform to advance collaborative programs and its own pipeline of novel therapeutics to address unmet medical needs.
As a member of our Force Fields team, you’ll work with a team of scientists and engineers to build atomistic physics-based models with unprecedented levels of accuracy. This role offers the opportunity to combine your scientific research experience with sound engineering principles to continue to advance the state-of-the-art in computer-aided chemical discovery.

Who will love this job:

  • A student of computational chemistry or biophysics who has developed models for small molecules and proteins
  • A scientist who has applied molecular simulation and QM methods in model validation
  • A force field developer who is passionate about building next-generation classical force fields enhanced by machine learning

What you’ll do:

  • Facilitate computer-aided chemical discovery by expanding the accuracy and coverage of our best-in-class atomistic physics-based models
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and Schrödinger’s agentic AI (Bunsen) to create next-generation tools for force field development
  • Adopt best engineering practices to write clear, highly-organized, and maintainable code

What you should have:

  • Master’s or PhD in Computational Chemistry, Biophysics, or a related field
  • Peer-reviewed publications in relevant disciplines
  • Intermediate-level knowledge of the Python programming language

We’d prefer to hire someone who has:

  • C++ programming background
