Foreign Lawyer
Key Responsibilities
- Advise clients on global and regional data protection laws, including GDPR, China PIPL, and APAC privacy regimes.
- Provide end-to-end advisory on data protection compliance programs, governance frameworks, and operational implementation.
- Support clients on cross-border data transfers, data localization, and international data sharing arrangements.
- Advise on cybersecurity compliance, data breach response, and regulatory investigations.
- Guide clients on AI governance, algorithm compliance, and emerging technology regulation.
- Support clients in regulatory audits, enforcement actions, and cross-border compliance matters.
- Assist with legal support for M&A, investments, and technology transactions involving data/privacy issues.
- Advise on data breaches, incident reporting, criminal or civil matters involving alleged data rights infringement, employee misconduct, fraud, conflicts of interest, commercial secrets and misuse of confidential information.
Requirements
- Qualified lawyer in a recognized jurisdiction (PRC qualification strongly preferred).
- 8–15 years of experience in privacy, cybersecurity, regulatory compliance, or technology law.
- Strong experience in law firm or international legal advisory environment.
- Deep knowledge of GDPR, China PIPL, and APAC data protection laws.
- Experience advising multinational clients on cross-border regulatory matters.
- Exposure to AI regulation or digital governance is a strong advantage.
- Excellent drafting, advisory, and client communication skills
- Strong command of English and Mandarin for effective communication with clients in Greater China.
