Job Standards and Performance Expectations
Mission Alignment
Actively engages the Catholic and Franciscan mission and identity of Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University by modeling the Franciscan values, honoring the legacy of the founding congregation, promoting justice for the communities we serve, and integrating the Catholic and Franciscan intellectual traditions in programs, courses and services
Laboratory Operations and Maintenance
Prepares reagents, buffers, culture media, and experimental solutions
Maintain an organized laboratory environment; Maintain laboratory notebooks
Monitor laboratory inventory, make orders, and store items upon arrival
Use sterile laboratory techniques, autoclave plastics and glassware, and culture and maintain cells
Assist with Experimental Assays
Planning, designing, optimizing, and interpreting these tests to ensure they yield reliable and reproducible data
Assists with Training
Assists with training and mentoring undergraduate Student Researchers on laboratory techniques
Data Management
Record experimental findings in Laboratory Notebooks
Input data into computer databases
Assist in compiling results for reports
Equipment Maintenance
Clean, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments to ensure a safe, sterile, and functional workplace
Inventory and Safety
Stock and order laboratory supplies, safely handle hazardous materials, and adhere to biological and chemical safety regulations
Sample Preparation
Receive, process, and label specimens or samples
Administrative Support
Provides administrative support to the Program Director/Faculty/Department
Other Duties as Assigned
Perform other duties, as assigned or requested
EXPERIENCE
- One (1) year of Laboratory experience, preferred
EDUCATION
- High School Diploma or equivalent
SPECIAL SKILLS
- An interest in working in a Laboratory setting alongside undergraduate students
