Freelance Canadian French Translator - HR & Policy Documents

We're seeking an experienced freelance translator to translate a defined set of HR and operational documents from English into Canadian French (français québécois). This is a one-time, project-based engagement delivered against agreed milestones. You'll work independently, on your own schedule, using your own professional methods.
  • Approximately 20,000–25,000 words across employment policies, employee handbook, and operational materials
  • Source documents provided in English; delivery in Canadian French (français québécois), formal register (vouvoiement)
  • Documents are employee-facing and some are legally significant (e.g., policies that must comply with the Charter of the French Language), so accuracy and appropriate terminology are essential
  • Delivered in batches against a milestone schedule we'll agree on together
  • Native or near-native Canadian French (français québécois)
  • Professional translation experience, ideally with HR, employment, or corporate content
  • OTTIAQ, ATIO, or equivalent credential strongly preferred
  • Consistent terminology and attention to formatting
  • Operates as an established freelance business or sole proprietor (own business number an asset)
  • Able to maintain confidentiality (a mutual NDA will be executed before documents are shared)
  • Independent contractor agreement with defined scope and milestones
  • Quote as a flat project rate or per-word — please include your rate when applying
  • Please note your typical turnaround for a project of this size
