Functional Application Consultant (CPQ & Order Management))

The Salesforce Functional Application Consultant for CPQ and Order Management serves as the functional lead responsible for translating high-level solution designs into detailed, scalable, and executable application architectures across the quote-to-order lifecycle. This role ensures the integrity, accuracy, and continuous optimization of pricing, quoting, and order orchestration processes.

The Functional Application Consultant bridges business, sales, finance, and operations teams, ensuring that CPQ and Order Management solutions align with enterprise architecture standards, revenue processes, and go-to-market strategies.

Key Responsibilities

Application Design & Architecture

● Own and manage end-to-end functional design for CPQ and Order Management processes within Salesforce CPQ and Salesforce Order Management.

● Translate high-level solution designs and business requirements into detailed functional specifications and architecture blueprints.

● Define scalable product catalog structures, pricing models, discounting frameworks, and quoting processes.

● Design order lifecycle flows including order capture, validation, fulfillment orchestration, amendments, and cancellations.

● Ensure alignment with enterprise standards, scalability, and performance.

Requirements Translation & Delivery Support

● Convert epics and business requirements into detailed user stories with clear acceptance criteria.

● Partner closely with Product Owners, Sales Operations, Finance, and Delivery Teams to ensure accurate implementation.

● Support sprint planning, backlog grooming, and provide ongoing functional clarifications.

● Utilize tools such as Jira and Confluence for requirements management, documentation, and agile delivery tracking.

Stakeholder Collaboration

● Act as the primary functional interface between Domain Owners, Solution Architects, Delivery Owners, and business stakeholders.

● Collaborate effectively with stakeholders and development teams across multiple time zones, ensuring alignment and timely delivery.

● Work closely with Sales, Finance, Legal, and Operations teams to streamline quote-to-cash processes.

● Facilitate cross-functional discussions across CRM, billing, revenue recognition, and fulfillment systems.

Data & Integration Oversight

● Define and govern data flows across CPQ, Order Management, Billing, and downstream fulfillment systems.

● Ensure pricing accuracy, contract integrity, and order data consistency.

● Oversee integrations with ERP, payment gateways, tax engines, and revenue systems.

● Support master data management for products, pricing, and customer data.

Production Support & Optimization

● Provide Level 2 and Level 3 production support for CPQ and Order Management applications.

● Troubleshoot issues related to pricing, quoting, order processing, and contract lifecycle.

● Continuously optimize quoting efficiency, order processing times, and system performance.

● Monitor system health, data quality, and business KPIs.

Governance & Best Practices

● Establish and enforce best practices for CPQ and Order Management, including product modeling, pricing governance, and approval workflows.

● Ensure compliance with enterprise architecture, audit, and financial controls.

● Drive documentation, knowledge management, and reusable design patterns.

● Promote standardization and scalability across quote-to-order processes.

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, or related field.

● 6+ years of experience in Salesforce ecosystem with strong focus on Salesforce CPQ and Salesforce Order Management.

● Proven experience working with globally distributed teams across multiple time zones.

● Hands-on experience with Jira and Confluence.

● Strong understanding of quote-to-cash processes, pricing strategies, and order lifecycle management.

● Experience with product catalog design, pricing rules, discounting, and approvals.

● Proven ability to translate business requirements into scalable functional designs.
