Overview The Accountant will play a key role in core general accounting functions, including journal entries, account reconciliations, month‑end close activities, and financial statement support, while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting expertise, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to balance routine accounting responsibilities in a fast‑evolving regulatory environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform core general accounting activities including journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and month‑end close tasks.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, variance analyses, and supporting schedules for internal and external reporting.
- Support annual financial audits and assist with technical accounting research as needed.
- Participate in month-end, half-year, and year-end reporting, preparing accruals and schedules and submitting monthly and ad hoc financial reporting packages as directed by management.
- Assist with other ad hoc tasks and duties
Education/Experience/Requirements
- BS in Accounting or related Finance area required
- 2-3 years of public, or a combination of public and industry accounting experience
- Needs to be working 4 days at the office in Polanco. Mon-Thursday. Friday Remote
- Must be able to fluently speak and write English
Skills Required
- Strong technical accounting knowledge with a solid understanding of GAAP, month‑end close processes, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Experience supporting audits, including preparing schedules, documentation, and responding to auditor inquiries.
- Advanced Excel and data analysis skills, with the ability to validate, interpret, and reconcile financial and operational data.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills to manage multiple deadlines and maintain data accuracy.
- Analytical and problem‑solving abilities, especially in identifying process gaps, improving controls, and streamlining workflows.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, working effectively with finance, sustainability, operations, and external auditors. Must be
- Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools; ESG or data‑tracking tools are a plus.
