Geographic Information System Specialist

This position is a Geographic Information System Specialist , GS-0301-09/11 working in Carlsbad, New Mexico for the Division of Resources. We expect to fill one vacancies at this time; however, additional positions may be filled from this announcement if they become available.

Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level.

Produce maps, datasets, analyses, and geospatial products ranging from basic to advanced complexity.

Perform data entry, editing, validation, and quality control on GIS datasets following established standards.

Maintain GIS files, metadata, documentation, and ensure data accuracy, consistency, and accessibility.

Conduct or support field data collection, including GPS based data acquisition. Integrate, interpret, transform, and manage geospatial data from multiple internal and external sources.

Prepare high quality, professional cartographic products for planning, compliance, reporting, and outreach.

Design and implement specialized spatial analyses, models, and decision support tools.
