Geographic Information System Specialist

This position is a Geographic Information System Specialist , GS-0301-05/07/09 working in Carlsbad, New Mexico for the Division of Resources. Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level.

Compile, develop, and maintain geospatial datasets supporting land and natural resource programs.

Enter, edit, and validate geospatial data following established standards.Perform basic spatial analyses to support planning, compliance, and operational needs.

Provide maps and analytical products to specialists and managers.

Perform basic spatial analyses to support planning, compliance, and operational needs.

Produce maps, figures, and visual materials adhering to cartographic and BLM standards.

Review mapping outputs for accuracy, consistency, and clarity.

Assist staff with geospatial software use, data requests, and troubleshooting.

Communicate data needs and coordinate with other GIS and program personnel.
