GIS Specialist
Specialise in mapping, modelling, and analysing location-based datasets. Visualise data in a clear and concise manner, while providing expertise in a highly specialised field.
Main Activities and Responsibilities: (including but not limited to)
- Comply with all role specific SHEQ obligations.
- Actively assist colleagues in achieving improved client feedback results, enhance satisfaction and exceed client expectations
- Observe and improve upon, relevant standards and regulations and apply techniques commonly used within industry and geospatial group.
- Actively assist colleagues in achieving improved client feedback results, enhance satisfaction and exceed client expectations.
- Prepare technical reports and GIS related outputs e.g. mapping, analysis, data management, scripts.
- Project manage small projects or discrete work packages.
- Identify project scope, time, quality and cost requirements as well as maintain flexibility in managing own workload.
- Monitor and manage project quality and risk.
- Actively participate in the business development mentoring program.
- Awareness of key contractual and commercial issues.
- Assist in managing project communications and project integration.
- Assist in preparing, costing and coordinating proposals.
Qualifications: (Minimum and Desirable)
- Bachelor’s Degree (GIS) or equivalent.
Experience, skills and organisational knowledge
- Typically, 2-5 years’ experience.
- Ability to undertake key technical tasks independently across a broad range of small to medium projects.
- Ability to implement problem solving skills.
- Ability to implement analytical skills.
- Ability to prepare technical reports and GIS related outputs e.g. web/desktop mapping, analysis, data management, scripts. — Ability to identify risk in small to medium profile projects.
- Developing capacity to deliver best client outcomes/options which have saved the client cost/time.
- Developing experience in monitoring and managing the scope of multiple small to medium size projects and applying business systems.
- Developing skills in proposal writing.
- Ability to prepare proposal on small to medium projects.
- Undertake business development training.
- Experienced using a range of GIS industry software.
- Open to and actions feedback.
- Manages self under pressure.
