Job Purpose:
This role provides global advisory governance, standards development, and compliance-framework coordination for Air Freight Dangerous Goods (DG), airfreight regulatory compliance, sanctions interface processes, and military/defense air logistics. The position does not assume legal, regulatory, or operational accountability for country or regional execution. All compliance obligations remain with legally responsible operating entities, certificate holders, licensed exporters, accountable managers, and DHL Group Legal and Trade Compliance, in accordance with applicable laws. The role operates strictly as a second-line governance and advisory function and does not approve shipments, deviations, exemptions, or regulatory risk acceptance.
Principal accountabilities
Dangerous Goods (DG)
- Develop and maintain Air Freight global DG governance frameworks aligned with ICAO, IATA DGR, airline and Group policies
- Provide technical advisory support for complex airfreight DG scenarios
- Escalate high-risk or unclear cases to airlines and authorities through accountable entities
- Provide technical advisory support for complex airfreight DG scenarios.
- Monitor audit findings, trends, and corrective actions at aggregate level
Compliance Assurance & Audit Coordination
- Coordinate visibility of audits and inspections.
- Consolidate findings and systemic risks across regions and countries.
- Support investigations coordination without owning outcomes.
- Ensure escalation to accountable management and Legal where required
Sanctions & Export Control
- Awareness of sanctions and export-control process requirements.
- Coordinate escalation to DHL Group Trade Compliance and Legal.
Military / Defense Air Logistics
- Develop advisory governance standards for military and defense airfreight.
- Provide process and documentation guidance.
- Ensure alignment with security, Legal, and Trade Compliance.
- No approval authority for military shipments or export licenses
Capability, Training & Performance
- Define Air Freight DG training and certification frameworks.
- Monitor training coverage and competency metrics.
- Report gaps and escalate risks
- No enforcement or disciplinary authority
Knowledge and Skills
- Deep technical knowledge of AirFreight Dangerous Goods regulatory frameworks and airline contractual requirements, applied in a governance and advisory context.
- Strong capability to translate regulatory and policy requirements into Air Freightspecific guidance, frameworks, and recommended practices, supporting local implementation without assuming responsibility for execution or compliance outcomes.
- Proven experience supporting audit, inspection, and authorityreadiness activities in aviation environments, including preparation, coordination, and response without holding accountablemanager or certificateholder responsibility.
- Advanced analytical capability to identify systemic compliance risks, assess trends, and support structured escalation and transparency, rather than operational risk acceptance or approval.
- Confident and effective stakeholder engagement across a global, matrixdriven Air Freight organization, including interaction with regions, Group functions, airlines, and authorities in a coordination and advisory capacity.
Qualifications and Experience
Mandatory
- IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations Certification (Category 6 or equivalent)
- Extensive experience in DG governance within airfreight or aviation
- Familiarity with ICAO and national aviation authority frameworks
- Experience with military / defense air logistics
- Experience supporting audits and inspections
- Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Aviation, Engineering, or similar
- Exposure to defense logistics preferred
