Grow With Us

Workstream is seeking a strategic and execution-focused Operations Manager for Global Data Operations. In this role, you will spearhead the most critical data-gathering initiative for Workstream’s robotics division. You will partner closely with our Recruiting and People Ops teams to drive high-volume participant acquisition, while taking direct ownership of the performance, management, and data output quality of hundreds of contributors helping robots “learn” how to interact with the world. Your ultimate mission is to ensure we hit our weekly footage targets while maintaining flawless compliance and data quality standards.

This isn’t just a standard operations role; you will be helping build the foundation for the future of robotics. You will manage a truly global operation that bridges the gap between high-volume data collection and high-level AI research.

Location Note: This role will initially be remote but is expected to transition to an office-based position once we establish our local presence. You will play a key role in helping set up, launch, and operationalize this local office.

Day in the Life

Team Leadership & Mixed-Network Management

  • Blended Workforce Management: Oversee a diverse workforce model, effectively managing a mixture of internal team members and an expansive network of external contractors (data collectors) operating across businesses and homes.
  • Distributed Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and scale a large, distributed team of Video Data Contributors, Team Leads, and Quality Auditors.
  • Lab & Site Management: Oversee a physical Workstream Lab, managing office-based team members who utilize complex, multi-camera wearable setups to capture high-fidelity data.
  • Engagement & Retention: Conduct weekly "Office Hours" and Q&A sessions to troubleshoot contributor issues and provide technical feedback. Implement strategic retention initiatives to reduce churn within a month-to-month contract environment.

Strategic Execution & Client Translation

  • Ops Plan Conversion: Act as the bridge between technical and business needs, expertly converting complex client requirements into structured, actionable operational plans.
  • B2B Partnerships & Sales Support: Leverage sales and partnership experience to secure, manage, and maintain relationships with businesses acting as data collection sites.

High-Volume Recruitment, Onboarding & Training

  • Technical Guidance: Partner with Recruiting to define precise technical criteria for candidates, ensuring participants possess the necessary hardware, environment, and attention to detail.
  • Onboarding & Readiness: Collaborate with People Ops to facilitate seamless onboarding, ensuring internal hires and contractors are immediately integrated into filming and data protocols.
  • Equipment Verification: Oversee the logistical verification of hardware (e.g., head-straps, camera specifications) so every new participant is project-ready on day one.

Data Quality, QA & Feedback Loops

  • Quality Assurance: Lead a team of reviewers to audit footage for strict usability standards (e.g., analyzing hand/arm movement vs. idle activities).
  • Continuous Improvement: Dynamically update "Guidelines Presentations" and training frameworks based on common failure points in the footage (e.g., lighting, camera angles).
  • Technical Troubleshooting: Serve as the final escalation point for hardware compatibility issues or cloud upload failures.

Financial, Payroll & Compliance Oversight

  • Complex Payroll & Compensation: Manage a tiered compensation structure and performance bonus payouts. Partner with Payroll to ensure all monthly global payments via Deel are precise and submitted on schedule.
  • Data Privacy: Maintain strict adherence to compliance guidelines, ensuring zero personal identifiable information (PII) is captured in uploaded data.

Who You Are

  • Experience: 7+ years in Operations Management, with a proven track record of leading distributed teams, gig workforces, or mixed internal/contractor networks.
  • Operational Versatility: Strong background spanning business hiring, training, complex payroll management, and end-to-end QA/data processes.
  • Technical Proficiency: Savvy with hardware; comfortable troubleshooting multi-camera setups and mastering the technical nuances of multi-angle recording to ensure data integrity.
  • Global Operations: Proven experience managing operations across the Philippines and the US, with a deep understanding of the cultural, logistical, and compliance differences in both markets.
  • Analytical Mindset: Data-driven problem solver who can analyze "Unusable Footage" metrics to pinpoint precisely where training, instructions, or recruitment filters are failing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industry Background: Experience in BPO Management, Marketplace Operations (e.g., Uber, DoorDash, TaskRabbit), AI Data Labeling, or Computer Vision data collection.
  • Logistics Experience: Familiarity with hardware logistics, inventory management, and global shipping of hardware components (smartphones, wearables, etc.).
  • Commercial Acumen: Prior experience handling sales, commercial partnerships, or client-facing account management.
