Global Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging Senior Expert

Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging at ING

At ING, we empower people to succeed through inclusion, because who you are and where you come from should never limit your opportunities.

We have a global presence. Our people, customers and the communities we serve are diverse. Understanding their different experiences and perspectives helps us think big, grow together and make a difference in business and wider society.

Our global approach to diversity, inclusion and belonging is rooted in trust, safety and acceptance, and promotes empowerment. That is why we focus on removing systemic barriers, embedding fairness and equity in our people practices, and building a culture where everyone belongs and can thrive.

The Team

ING’s Global Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging (DIB) team is part of the broader Talent & Learning team. Together, we work across the organisation to help shape more inclusive experiences in hiring, development, advancement, and everyday employee experience.

Our Global DIB team plays an important role in helping ING foster a culture where everyone feels valued, included, and able to contribute at their best. We provide strategic direction, practical expertise and thoughtful guidance to help embed inclusive practices across the organisation.

In this role, you will report to the Global Head of DIB and work closely with two peers in the global DIB team, as well as a wider network of DIB leads across our 44 countries. It is a role with meaningful global scope, strong collaboration, and the opportunity to help shape lasting impact.

The Position

As Global DIB Senior Expert, you will bring deep subject-matter expertise and extensive hands-on experience in diversity, inclusion and belonging in a global, complex organisation. You will work with the broader HR organisation, senior business leaders, and partners across functions such as Sustainability, Legal, Risk, Learning & Development to bring ING’s DIB strategy to life.

This role calls for a senior expert who can take ownership, navigate change, and translate strategy into clear priorities, practical initiatives, and visible, measurable progress across a broad range of topics.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead, develop and deliver DIB initiatives and projects, drawing on your extensive DIB expertise and demonstrated experience in complex global organisations, in close partnership with senior stakeholders and aligned to strategic priorities.

  • Act as a trusted advisor and coach on DIB-related topics, working closely with global HRBPs, country DIB SPOCs and Business Talent Leads.

  • Help design and implement initiatives, (targeted on different seniority levels) that build DIB awareness, understanding and empathy through communications and learning. While seeking for the optimal mix between new solutions and strengthening existing development programmes.

  • Define clear outcomes that support impact evaluation and help guide programme design, prioritisation and stakeholder decision-making, while adapting focus as business needs and priorities evolve

  • Partner with employee-driven DIB resource groups across ING to support local initiatives, strengthen connection to the global strategy, and elevate employee voice.

  • Stay close to internal and external developments in the DIB space and proactively translate insights into practical, relevant, and actionable recommendations.

What we’re looking for

  • You are a senior DIB expert with extensive demonstrated experience in designing, leading and delivering a broad range of DIB initiatives in a global role within a complex organisation.

  • You excel in stakeholder management and are able to build trusted relationships across different levels of the organisation, collaborating effectively with a wide range of global and local stakeholders.

  • You are creative, resourceful, adaptable and comfortable navigating change. You take ownership, make things happen, and know how to move initiatives forward in a complex, global environment, even as priorities shift.

  • You communicate clearly and confidently, with strong verbal, facilitation, written and presentation skills, and the ability to balance empathy with constructive challenge.

  • You are comfortable using data and insights to identify root causes, shape priorities, and support both immediate actions and longer-term plans.

  • You bring strong project management skills and a track record of delivering high-impact initiatives across multiple teams, functions and locations
