The Team:

The National Ratings team supports the development of domestic markets by executing strategic initiatives, identifying growth opportunities, and delivering tailored analytical solutions through efficient, market-specific operating models. It fosters strong coordination and collaboration by creating an ecosystem that promotes the sharing of best practices and enables a rapid response to market developments. As Global Head, you will shape credit rating methodologies across emerging markets, directly influencing how we assess credit risk globally. Your strategic leadership will drive innovation in credit analysis while maintaining regulatory compliance and building relationships with senior stakeholders across diverse cultural environments.

Responsibilities:

Criteria

  • Responsible for developing, maintaining, updating and retiring all the Criteria, Tools and Models used to assign credit ratings by S&P National Ratings analysts in Latam, Middle East & Africa and APAC. Support coordination across markets.

  • Communicating with GAM on Criteria and Model changes that we could potentially incorporate into NSR.

  • Chairing the NSR Methodologies Council, for the review and approval of such methodologies. Managing the wider Council responsibilities such as Periodic Reviews of Criteria, material and non-material changes and inclusion of AQV processes

  • Maintaining, to the extent possible, alignment is Methodologies in the Federation of NSRs.

  • Creating guidance documents and commentaries that complement Methodologies.

  • Creating a process by which analysts request new criteria or criteria changes.

  • Addressing questions and providing guidance related to the proper application of these methodologies and criteria.

  • Maintaining records management of Methodologies process.

  • Representing S&P National Ratings in market forums, conferences, and with key stakeholders (issuers, investors, regulators) when requested.

  • Collaborating with other S&P support functions and divisions where appropriate (business enablement, etc).

  • Leveraging AI and automation tools to enhance criteria development and monitoring processes.

Quality

  • Evaluating the quality, consistency and transparency of S&P National Ratings' credit analysis, criteria, tools and models. Conducting sector reviews.

  • Influencing way and process on how criteria, tools and models quality, and ratings performance are evaluated. Source, organize, and analyze structured and unstructured data from internal and external sources to identify credit trends and sector risks. Invite guest reviewers, as needed.

  • Continually, improving the efficiency of quality processes through automation and advanced analytics capabilities.

  • Informing management on findings.

Training

  • Setting up analytical education programs:

  • Recurring office hours to address methodology inquiries and present case studies on complex transactions.

  • Building a training curriculum.

Regulatory

  • Act as a point of contact for regulators for criteria matters in collaboration with the compliance and legal teams.

  • Review and approve periodic annual regulatory reporting on methodologies (e.g. annual criteria reviews).

  • Partner with internal stakeholders on criteria and quality matters (compliance, legal, in business controls).

All employees must work from the office at least 2 days/week.

What We're Looking For:

Basic Required Qualifications:

  • An S&P Global employee at this level would typically have 10+ years of experience in the financial sector focusing on credit risk analysis, with experience as criteria officer

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Economics, Finance, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field; MBA, CFA, or advanced degree strongly preferred.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of S&P ratings analytical methodologies, preferably in various sectors.

  • Cross-cultural collaboration: Proven ability to work effectively across diverse cultural environments with a strong understanding of country-specific nuances.

  • Stakeholder engagement: Extensive experience interacting with high-ranking officials, including credit rating regulatory authorities and senior internal management.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; fluency in English (must) and Spanish (ideal).

  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in cross functional and multicultural environments.

  • Strong organizational capabilities: ability to multitask, prioritize, and work both independently and in groups in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to work with teams across regions and time zones.

  • Great attention to detail.

  • Familiarity with automation techniques and workflow tools.

  • Travel required.

  • We require all candidates who reach the final stage of our interview process to attend at least one in-person interview, which is ordinarily at your nearest S&P Global Ratings office. This must be completed before we can proceed to an offer

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leading cross-functional teams across multiple geographic regions with diverse stakeholder management

  • Background in regulatory affairs or compliance within the financial services industry, particularly related to credit rating agencies

  • Familiarity with artificial intelligence applications in credit analysis, including natural language processing, predictive modeling, or automated quality assurance systems

  • Track record of driving process improvement and innovation in analytical frameworks, with experience implementing technology-enabled solutions
