Global Tax Lead
About the Opportunity
Our client is a fast-growing multinational group spanning manufacturing, trading, and FMCG, expanding into new markets and partnerships. They are seeking an experienced Global Tax Lead to head corporate tax for one or more key business units.
- Senior role within the group's central corporate tax function, working closely with regional tax teams.
- Provides strategic tax guidance and oversight, aligned with group governance and objectives.
- Drives tax-efficient cross-border structuring and stays ahead of regulatory and geopolitical change.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Tax Leadership
- Set and execute tax strategy for the business unit, aligned with group policy and governance.
- Advise local tax teams on commercial decisions and expansion initiatives.
- Optimise effective tax rate through cross-border structuring and trade flows.
- Monitor regulatory and geopolitical developments and advise the business proactively.
Tax Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure accurate, timely tax filings across the business unit.
- Guide local teams on provisioning, reporting, and compliance.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate tax risk with strong internal controls.
Tax Planning and Advisory
- Advise on cross-border transactions, operating structures, and market entry.
- Partner with commercial, finance, and legal teams on expansions, partnerships, and restructuring.
- Own tax audits and manage relationships with advisors and tax authorities.
Operational Excellence
- Embed best-practice tax governance across the business unit.
- Drive process and system improvements for efficiency and transparency.
- Support knowledge-sharing between corporate and regional teams.
Team Leadership and Development
- Lead and mentor business unit tax teams on complex matters.
- Strengthen alignment between corporate and regional tax functions.
What We're Looking For
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 15+ years of progressive international tax experience, in-house or with a top advisory firm.
- Strong expertise in international tax, cross-border structuring, and transfer pricing, with a track record of optimising effective tax rates.
- Background in fast-growing manufacturing, trading, or FMCG businesses across multiple jurisdictions.
- Strong commercial and analytical capability in complex tax environments.
- Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead regional tax teams.
- Willing to travel internationally as required.
Must-Haves
- Strong international tax and transfer pricing expertise, including HQ/trading hub models, BEPS, ETR management, and global tax planning.
- Exposure to multinational or globally distributed business structures, ideally trading, manufacturing, or cross-border organisations.
- Hands-on operator, comfortable as an individual contributor managing detailed tax matters directly.
- Solid technical foundation, ideally Big 4-trained, with strong knowledge of direct and indirect tax.
Track Record That Matters
- Sizable, demonstrable wins in lowering effective tax rates through tax structuring.
- Experience managing transfer pricing disputes or controversies with tax authorities.
- Ready to speak to specific, quantifiable outcomes.
