(Government of Saskatchewan) Senior Project Manager
Project Duties of Resource:
• Develop the terms of the Project Statement of Work in consultation with the Project Leadership Team
• Produce the project plan and gaining Project Sponsor approval
• Ensure the project is undertaken in accordance with the standards, processes and documentation which follows PMI standards
• Produce deliverables on time, within budget and to specification
• Integration of project touch points (interconnections) across related projects
• Monitoring quality of project deliverables.
• Timely communications regarding project progress, issues and concerns to the team, project sponsors and relevant stakeholders
• Monitoring quality of project deliverables and ensuring project objectives are met
• Developing project change requests (scope, time, cost) and negotiating with Project sponsor
• Developing and monitoring risks related to the delivery of the project
• Team health – ensuring conflict is handled, members receive recognition, etc
• Identify changes to resourcing requirements
Mandatory Requirements:
o Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification with a minimum of 5 years experience in project management and satisfactory completion of one or more projects at a senior level.
o Five years experience that includes at least one significant multi-million dollar project.
o Communication and Influence: An ability to communicate effectively (both orally and written) with the team, senior management, other functions, stakeholders, and customers.
o Excellent facilitation skills are needed. Ability to communicate complex and highly technical concepts to technical and non-technical people (written and oral).
Other Required Skills:
• Leadership: An ability to lead and motivate people and encourage teamwork in a environment with internal and external stakeholders
• Strong interpersonal skills with proven experience working with all levels within an organization and understanding business priorities
• Demonstrated ability to prepare project documents (e.g. progress reports, detailed budget and human resource submissions and budget analysis, IT business cases, proposals, functional requirements, training manuals, business/technical architecture specifications, strategies, project close-out documents including ‘lessons learned’)
• IT business solution implementation: experience leading projects that involved implementing major changes to business systems and processes.
• Commitment, assertiveness, and self-reliance: Ability to recognize and resolve issues early and thoroughly. Ability to solve problems in integrated environments
o Experience in transitioning project deliverables to operations
o Experience creating or working with SOW (Statements of Work)
o Experience using, or certification with, a change management methodology is considered an asset.
