Responsible for leading all logistics and supply chain functions across the organization, including strategic direction, operational execution, compliance, and team leadership. This role ensures the efficient planning, procurement, storage, distribution, and transportation of materials and finished goods to meet customer and business requirements.

The position combines strategic oversight with hands-on leadership of day-to-day logistics operations, driving performance, continuous improvement, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy

  • Develop and execute the overall logistics and materials management strategy
  • Lead, coach, and develop logistics team members; manage staffing, performance, and succession planning
  • Establish departmental goals, KPIs, and performance metrics; monitor and report results
  • Drive a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement

Operations Management

  • Oversee all logistics functions including:
    • Shipping and receiving
    • Inventory management and control
    • Procurement coordination
    • Distribution and warehousing
  • Plan and allocate resources (people, equipment, materials) to optimize productivity
  • Manage carrier selection, routing, and freight optimization
  • Maintain and update all customer-specific logistics requirements and routings
  • Act as primary escalation point for logistics-related customer issues

Supply Chain & Systems

  • Ensure effective planning, order fulfillment, and inventory control processes
  • Evaluate, implement, and maintain logistics systems (ERP, EDI, labeling, etc.)
  • Optimize storage, transportation, and distribution networks
  • Support digitalization and process improvement initiatives

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with:
    • International trade and customs regulations (CBSA, CBP, export/import controls)
    • Trade programs (CTPAT, PIP)
    • Quality standards (IATF 16949, MMOG)
    • Environmental standards (ISO 14001)
    • Health & Safety regulations
  • Stay current on trade regulations, freight trends, and market conditions
  • Maintain all policies, procedures, and security protocols

Financial & Administrative Accountability

  • Develop, manage, and monitor departmental budgets
  • Analyze and approve logistics-related costs and CAPEX projects
  • Manage financial aspects of logistics operations including cost control and reporting

Continuous Improvement

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives across logistics operations
  • Review and revise procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective actions (e.g., 8D, 5Y)

External & Stakeholder Management

  • Manage relationships with external warehouses, distribution centers, and logistics providers
  • Represent company interests with vendors and service providers
  • Act as key liaison between logistics, operations, sales, and customers

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of supply chain and logistics operations in a manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and logistics tools (EDI, ASN platforms, courier systems)
  • Understanding of international trade, customs regulations, and compliance programs
  • Financial acumen including budgeting and cost analysis
  • Leadership and people management skills
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related systems

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field (preferred)
  • Minimum 5–7 years of logistics experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Minimum 3–5 years in a leadership role
  • Experience with international trade compliance and customs regulations
  • Familiarity with IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 preferred

Certifications (Preferred / As Required)

  • Forklift, Overhead Crane, Aerial Platform
