Your Role as Head of Asset Performance
This role operates across both strategy and operations, ensuring that asset performance insights directly influence organisational strategy while driving improvements in how assets are utilised, maintained, and optimised. This role oversees the daily operations of the Asset Performance Department, with responsibility for ensuring strategic goals are met by setting operational policies, maintaining budgets and managing and developing employees. The role focuses on understanding asset behaviour, performance trends, and lifecycle outcomes - including the development and alignment of maintenance planning approaches - to enhance reliability, efficiency, and overall value.
You’ll deliver this role by:
- Provide strategic and operational advice to optimise asset performance and inform investment, maintenance and lifecycle decisions.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of the organisation’s Value & Asset Management Strategy by providing evidence-based insights on asset performance, risks, and opportunities.
- Provide forward-looking analysis on asset condition, lifecycle requirements, and investment needs to inform capital planning and prioritisation.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators to identify trends, performance gaps or emerging risks.
- Oversee the planning and coordination of asset lifecycle projects (e.g. RTOs, renewals, replacements, upgrades), ensuring alignment with asset performance objectives and organisational priorities.
- Coordinate the planning and delivery of lifecycle activities to achieve agreed outcomes and minimise disruption to customers, services, and business operations.
- Monitor delivery of lifecycle initiatives to ensure quality outcomes, minimal operational impact, and alignment to agreed objectives.
- Integrate preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance practices to optimise asset reliability and minimise unplanned downtime.
- Manage medium and long-term maintenance schedules to support lifecycle optimisation and capital planning inputs.
- Identify opportunities to refine maintenance strategies based on performance data, failure analysis, and operational feedback.
- Work closely with operational teams to optimise how assets are utilised, maintained, and managed to improve reliability, availability, and cost efficiency.
- Promote the adoption of proactive and predictive approaches to maintenance, reducing reactive work and unplanned disruptions.
- Embed structured problem-solving approaches to address recurring asset performance issues and operational challenges.
- Drive alignment between maintenance planning, asset performance objectives, and operational delivery practices.

What We’re Looking For
- Significant experience in asset management, asset performance, infrastructure, or similar operational environments, including demonstrated experience in asset lifecycle management.
- Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Asset Management, Infrastructure Management, or a related discipline.
- Experience using asset systems, analytics and performance tools to evaluate asset performance and drive operational and strategic improvements.
- Proven experience working across both strategic planning and operational delivery contexts, including maintenance planning approaches (preventive, predictive, condition-based).
- Demonstrated experience contributing to or supporting capital planning, lifecycle investment decisions, or asset-related business cases.
- Knowledge of risk-based asset management, including criticality assessment and failure analysis.
- Certification or training aligned asset management frameworks (eg. ISO 55000, IAM).
- Proven leadership capability with strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
A Valuable Addition, Yet Not a Must-Have!
- Experience in aged care, retirement living, disability services, or health/community infrastructure.
- Experience managing external contractors, facilities management providers, or outsourced maintenance models.
- Experience leading asset management transformation, system uplift, or cultural shifts toward proactive maintenance
