Head of Digital Marketing – Vanguard Canada

The Head of Digital Marketing for Canada will shape and lead the digital strategy that connects investors and advisors to Vanguard's products, insights, and thought leadership. This leader will play a critical role in advancing Vanguard's mission to give clients the best chance for investment success by creating meaningful, data-driven digital experiences that drive engagement, acquisition, and retention.

The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience leading digital marketing organizations within the financial services industry, with a strong understanding of investor and advisor audiences, financial products, regulatory considerations, and the unique dynamics of the wealth and asset management landscape. They will combine strategic vision with hands-on digital marketing expertise to deliver measurable business outcomes and elevate Vanguard's digital capabilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive digital marketing strategy across paid, owned, and earned channels to support Vanguard Canada's growth objectives.
  • Establish leading digital marketing practices, optimize performance across the customer journey, and improve return on investment for key business partners.
  • Build and maintain a best-in-class digital marketing ecosystem that supports personalized, connected experiences for both advisor and investor audiences.
  • Lead the evolution of content and digital engagement strategies, ensuring communications are timely, relevant, compliant, and personalized across all channels.
  • Manage the paid media budget across campaign-based and always-on programs, maximizing efficiency and business impact.
  • Define analytics and measurement frameworks that provide clear attribution, actionable insights, and a comprehensive view of marketing performance.
  • Leverage customer, campaign, and market data to inform strategy, improve targeting, and deepen customer engagement.
  • Partner with Marketing Technology, Data, and IT teams to develop an integrated marketing technology architecture aligned with Vanguard's global design standards and future-state vision.
  • Evaluate emerging digital marketing and marketing technology solutions, including customer data platforms, artificial intelligence, and machine learning capabilities, to continuously enhance Vanguard's digital marketing effectiveness.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of digital marketing professionals while fostering a collaborative and inclusive team culture.
  • Manage agency and vendor partnerships to ensure strong performance, accountability, innovation, and alignment with business goals.

Education & Experience:

  • 10+ years of progressive marketing leadership experience, including significant digital marketing leadership experience within financial services, asset management, wealth management, banking, insurance, or a related financial institution.
  • Demonstrated success developing and executing large-scale digital marketing strategies that drive measurable business outcomes, customer acquisition, engagement, and retention.
  • Deep expertise across digital marketing disciplines, including paid media, digital acquisition, customer journey optimization, marketing automation, personalization, analytics, and marketing technology.
  • Strong understanding of advisor and investor audiences, financial products, and the regulatory environment governing financial services marketing.
  • Proven experience managing substantial digital marketing budgets and external agency/vendor relationships.
  • Experience operating in complex, global, matrixed organizations and influencing senior stakeholders across functions and geographies.
  • Undergraduate degree required; MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
  • Proficiency in English required; French language skills are an asset.
  • Relevant digital marketing credentials and certifications (e.g., analytics, Martech, digital strategy, performance marketing) are a must.

Pay Transparency

Expected Salary Range: C$118k-$216k plus bonuses

Role status: New Role

Our compensation ranges are based on role, level, and local market. Individual pay within the range is determined by factors such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. For part-time roles, pay will be pro-rated based on regularly scheduled hours.

In addition to the range above, Vanguard’s total compensation package may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, and other perks.
