Role Purpose

The Head of Digital, Supply Chain and Product Technology will be crafting and delivering the digital and technology strategy that underpins supply chain operations and the end‑to‑end product lifecycle. The role sets the technology roadmap across planning, sourcing, manufacturing, logistics, fulfilment, and product creation and management.

This role ensures the supply chain and product ecosystem are resilient, data‑driven, automated, and digitally enabled, while product development and lifecycle processes are supported by modern platforms, strong integrations, and actionable insights. The role partners closely with R&D Technology teams to identify and deploy emerging technologies, including AI, across product development and deployment.

Key Accountabilities

Strategy & Digital Roadmap

  • Define and lead a unified technology strategy across domains, aligned to enterprise priorities.
  • Develop and maintain a multi‑year roadmap covering ERP and supply chain platforms, planning tools, logistics technologies, product lifecycle systems, control towers, and automation.
  • Identify capability gaps and lead innovation across end‑to‑end supply chain and product lifecycles.
  • Champion the use of AI and sophisticated digital solutions to improve service levels, efficiency, optimisation, and innovation.

Platform & Product Ownership

  • Own technology platforms supporting supply chain and product lifecycle operations, including ERP, forecasting, replenishment, and lifecycle management systems.
  • Partner with architecture teams to ensure scalable, secure, cloud‑first, and interoperable solutions.
  • Set clear product roadmaps and prioritise backlogs across multiple technology domains.

Digital Transformation & Delivery Excellence

  • Lead intricate, large‑scale digital transformation programmes across global operations of Supply Chain & products.
  • Lead all aspects of delivery execution, change adoption, release management, and operational readiness.
  • Ensure delivery follows strong governance, agile and product‑led methodologies, and measurable outcomes.

Data, Analytics & Insights

  • Enable real‑time visibility and predictive analytics across demand planning, inventory, production, logistics, supplier performance, and product lifecycles.
  • Partner with Data and AI teams to optimise automation and analytical capabilities.
  • Establish strong data governance, quality standards, and performance metrics.

Supplier & Product Lifecycle Enablement

  • Lead digital solutions that support supplier collaboration, sourcing, logistics optimisation, and operational automation.
  • Deploy technologies that support sustainability monitoring and real‑time operational intelligence.
  • Enable digital capabilities for product design, development workflows, onboarding, and lifecycle optimisation.
  • Drive solutions for supply chain modelling, pricing optimisation, raw material management, and plant performance optimisation.

Stakeholder & Partner Leadership

  • Act as a senior technology partner to global supply chain and product leadership teams.
  • Build positive relationships with senior partners and influence decision‑making across business units.
  • Select and handle strategic technology and delivery partners, including commercial negotiations, renewals, and performance management.

Financial Accountability & Value Realisation

  • Own technology budgets for digital platforms.
  • Develop cases and track value realisation for major digital investments.
  • Ensure investments deliver measurable benefits across cost, service, speed, quality, sustainability, and working capital.

Skills, Experience & Capabilities

Experience

  • Significant experience (typically 10+ years) across digital, supply chain, or product technology leadership roles.
  • Background in large, multi-layered, global organisations, ideally within manufacturing, CPG, retail, pharma, or logistics environments.

Capabilities

  • Deep understanding of end‑to‑end supply chain operations and Industry 4.0 concepts.
  • Strong experience with product lifecycle management and product creation platforms.
  • Hands‑on experience delivering ERP and supply chain systems (e.g., ERP, APS/IBP, WMS, TMS, OMS).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms, APIs, integration architectures, and modern delivery practices.
  • Experience applying AI, automation, and sophisticated analytics to business challenges.
  • Strong product management, agile delivery, and cross‑functional programme management.
  • Consistent track record to lead and develop high‑performing, teams with varied strengths in global environments.
  • Strong communication & articulation with the ability to engage both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • A collaborative, value driven approach with a focus on delivery and impact.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent degree in supply chain, engineering, technology, or a related field.

This is a role within the Castrol organisation and the successful candidate will become part of the Castrol ring-fence. Hence, it is expected that your employment will move with Castrol to new ownership.
