Head of Field Engineering Operations
You will architect and run the operational backbone for Field Engineering, building processes, systems, and insights that let technical pre- and post-sales teams move faster and deliver measurable customer outcomes. You will hire, lead, and develop an operations team, own capacity planning and territory design, and create lifecycle frameworks for forecasting, onboarding, and go-live tracking. You will define KPIs, dashboards, and health scoring to make team performance visible and drive operating cadences across Sales, Finance, Product, and RevOps.
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end operational strategy for Field Engineering
- Build and lead a Field Engineering Operations team
- Design and iterate team structures, role definitions, and engagement models
- Drive capacity planning, territory design, and resource allocation
- Define and own pre- to post-sales lifecycle frameworks including forecasting, onboarding, and consumption ramp measurement
- Define and maintain metrics, KPIs, dashboards, and health scoring models
Requirements
- 8+ years in operations, strategy, or technical program leadership supporting field engineering or customer-facing technical organizations, with at least 3 years building and leading teams
- Experience standing up or scaling operational frameworks for pre-sales and post-sales technical teams (Solutions Architects, Sales Engineers, Professional Services, Customer Success Engineering)
- Proficiency in GTM systems and architecture, including Salesforce administration, custom objects, flows, reporting, and integrations
- Track record building territory planning, capacity modeling, and compensation design for technical field teams at $100M+ ARR companies
- Systems thinking and the ability to prioritize operational roadmaps
- Strong analytical skills and a bias toward execution, including instrumenting metrics and driving operating cadences
- Proven ability to partner with VP-level technical leaders and drive cross-functional initiatives with Sales, Finance, Product, and RevOps
