    Job Description: Head of Section (Secondary)<\/strong><\/p>

    International Community Schools (ICS) Khalifa City, a leading American curriculum school in Abu Dhabi, is seeking an exceptional and dynamic Head of Section to lead our Secondary school (Cycles 2 & 3, Grades 6\-12). This pivotal role requires a seasoned educational leader with extensive experience within an American curriculum framework, a deep commitment to student success, and a thorough understanding of ADEK regulations.<\/p>

    1. Qualifications & Certifications:<\/strong><\/p>

    • Bachelor's Degree in Education or a relevant academic subject from a recognized university.<\/p><\/li>

    • Master's Degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, Curriculum and Instruction, or a related field (highly preferred).<\/p><\/li>

    • Valid and current Professional Teaching License/Certification from a recognized US state or equivalent North American authority.<\/p><\/li>

    • Leadership/Administrative credential is preferred.<\/p><\/li><\/ul>

      2. Experience Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>

      • Minimum of 7 years of full\-time teaching experience within an American curriculum school environment (Grades 6\-12).<\/p><\/li>

      • Minimum of 4 years of proven leadership experience in an American curriculum school setting (e.g., Head of Department, Assistant Principal, Curriculum Coordinator).<\/p><\/li>

      • Demonstrable experience in American curriculum development, implementation, and assessment, specifically aligned with US Common Core State Standards.<\/p><\/li>

      • Strong track record in staff supervision, performance management, and professional development within a secondary school context.<\/p><\/li><\/ul>

          4. Curriculum Knowledge (American Curriculum Specific):<\/strong><\/p>

          • Expert\-level understanding and practical application of the American Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for English Language Arts and Mathematics.<\/p><\/li>

          • Extensive expertise in American curriculum design, pedagogical approaches, differentiated instruction, assessment methodologies (formative and summative), and reporting practices.<\/p><\/li>

          • Familiarity with US college preparatory guidance and Advanced Placement (AP) programs.<\/p><\/li><\/ul>

            5. UAE\-Specific Requirements (ADEK Compliance):<\/strong><\/p>

            • Comprehensive understanding of and full compliance with all Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) regulations, policies, and educational standards for private schools.<\/p><\/li>

            • Familiarity with the ADEK inspection framework and requirements, particularly as they apply to American curriculum schools.<\/p><\/li>

            • Willingness to undergo and successfully pass all necessary UAE government background checks, attestation of educational qualifications, and medical fitness examinations.<\/p><\/li>

            • Demonstrated cultural awareness and sensitivity regarding local customs and traditions in the United Arab Emirates.<\/p><\/li>

            • Ability to obtain and maintain ADEK approval as a Head of Section/Educational Leader.<\/p><\/li><\/ul>
