About THG Ingenuity

THG Ingenuity is a fully integrated digital commerce ecosystem, designed to power brands without limits. Our global end-to-end tech platform is comprised of three products: THG Commerce, THG Studios, THG Fulfilment.

We are seeking an experienced Construction Health & Safety Manager to lead and develop our health and safety function across a growing portfolio of construction projects. You will take ownership of construction health and safety compliance, supporting projects from pre-construction through to completion. This is an opportunity to build robust systems, processes and governance from the ground up, working closely with internal stakeholders and our supply chain to establish a proactive, best-in-class safety culture as the business continues to grow.
Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the named competent person under Regulation 8 of CDM 2015, providing the organisation with the required H&S management capability across the construction project pipeline
  • Author, develop and maintain the Construction Phase Plan (CPP) for each notifiable project, updating throughout the construction phase to reflect evolving site conditions and work packages
  • Manage F10 notifications to the HSE for all notifiable projects and maintain the project notification register
  • Review and approve all subcontractor Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) prior to mobilisation and throughout the works
  • Conduct regular site inspections and H&S audits
  • Deliver site-specific inductions to all contractors and visitors; enforce site rules and safe systems of work throughout the construction phase
  • Lead accident and incident investigation, manage RIDDOR reporting to HSE within statutory timescales
  • Liaise with the Principal Designer on pre-construction information and design-stage hazards, ensuring effective handover into the construction phase
  • Compile and maintain the Health and Safety File for each project, ensuring accurate handover to the client at practical completion
  • Lead the build-out of the organisation's H&S management framework, including CPP templates, RAMS review procedures, site rules, induction materials and incident reporting protocols
  • Lead the procurement and implementation of a digital H&S management platform; establish document control, version control and audit trail standards
  • Own and manage the organisation's SSIP accreditation (Constructionline Gold or CHAS), coordinating the initial application and annual renewals
  • Coordinate subcontractor H&S prequalification as part of the procurement and tender process, assessing SSIP certification, insurances, trade licences and competence records
  • Support the Contracts Manager in developing the supply chain framework, ensuring H&S and competence requirements are embedded into ITT and subcontract documentation
  • Build working relationships with internal stakeholders including the Contracts Manager, Site Managers, procurement and finance teams
  • Produce regular H&S performance reports covering leading and lagging indicators; contribute to management reporting
Person Specification
Essential
  • NEBOSH National Construction Certificate as a minimum; NEBOSH Diploma, NVQ Level 6, or Chartered Membership of IOSH (CMIOSH) strongly preferred
  • Demonstrable experience as a named H&S competent person on notifiable UK construction projects, with direct accountability for CDM 2015 compliance
  • Working knowledge of CDM 2015 duties, HSE enforcement powers, RIDDOR, COSHH and relevant Approved Codes of Practice including L153 and HSG150
  • Proven experience authoring Construction Phase Plans, reviewing RAMS and managing site H&S documentation end-to-end
  • Experience leading subcontractor H&S prequalification and conducting site inspections and audits
  • Strong communication skills; able to engage confidently with site operatives, subcontractors, senior leadership and HSE inspectors
  • Highly organised and self-sufficient; comfortable managing H&S responsibilities across multiple concurrent projects without day-to-day oversight
  • A proactive mindset; able to build process and structure in an environment where frameworks are still being established
