Opportunity:

JAPA Equipment Rentals Edmonton is looking for a Journeyman Heavy Equipment Mechanic. The right candidate for this position can perform all tasks related to the testing, diagnosing, repair, maintenance, and reconditioning of heavy equipment, transmissions, engines on diverse range of construction & earthmoving equipment including compactors, excavators, pipe layers, graders, dozers and articulated trucks - both in the shop and in the field.

JAPA Heavy Equipment Technicians are responsible for providing quality workmanship, consistent service, and technical knowledge to the customers, and a positive attitude in their day to day work.

• Inspect and diagnose components and equipment for servicing needs, these include: Caterpillar, Hitachi, John Deere, Komatsu, Kubota, Yanmar, XCMG and other heavy off-road equipment.
• Perform mechanical repairs on equipment in the shop and in the field when required.
• Communicate with equipment owners for authorization of servicing and repairs as required.
• Service and repair equipment in the shop and on-site for the customer.
• Establish and maintain strong working relationships with customers.
• Communicate equipment servicing needs as required with Service Manager & shop foreman.
• Communicate work performed and complete service paperwork.
• Update and maintain service records.
• Complete work orders.
• Performance of daily duties in a manner conducive to a safe workplace.
• Work with Manufacturers online support.
• Conduct housekeeping duties.
• Maintain a professional company image at all times.
• Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.

Candidate Requirements:

• Completion of off-road Journeyman Program (third year)
• Willing to work overtime.
• Willing to work in the field.
• 4+ years’ experience as a Heavy Equipment Technician.
• Possess a valid drivers license.
• Proven mechanical abilities in hydraulics and electrical, including schematics and diagnostics.
• Ability to work independently in a busy environment.
• Experience with routine maintenance operations.
• Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
• Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient analytical and problem solving skills.
• Able to work well under pressure.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.
