High Horsepower Field Service Engineer
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Gathers input from technical managers, project leaders, engineers, and suppliers to inform quality-focused product decisions.
- Uses academic knowledge and prior experience to make timely decisions that keep projects moving without compromising quality.
- Makes day‑to‑day decisions on project details, analysis plans, test instructions, and cross‑discipline coordination.
- Applies and improves processes such as ESW, iDFMEA, FIRG, and tools like 7‑step problem solving and design review checklists.
- Independently leads smaller‑impact projects or owns complex components/systems with higher ambiguity and full accountability.
- Drives development and improvement of work processes within a functional discipline
- Directs work of technicians and student employees; supports knowledge transfer to less‑experienced engineers.
- Functions as a recognized specialist in a specific discipline or product area within the immediate team.
- Identify and mitigate product risks and failure modes while managing system requirements, interfaces, and changes to ensure reliability and performance.
- Use modelling, simulation, testing, and analysis to support design decisions, verification and validation, and assessment of system capability.
- Apply systems thinking and structured problem solving to resolve complex technical issues and improve system outcomes.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with stakeholders, building strong networks to support delivery and decision-making.
- Deliver reliable outcomes in complex and ambiguous environments through sound technical judgement and prioritisation.
- Support integration and understanding of multi-domain control systems across mechanical, hydraulic, chemical, and electronic domains.
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or relevant trade qualification- Heavy Diesel or equivalent
- Previous relevant industry experience (desirable)
- Experience with engines or field service work (desirable)
- Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
