High School CTE Teacher & Work Based Learning Coordinator - Lowcountry Connections Academy

Lowcountry Connections Academy (LCCA) is a tuition-free, full-time virtual school serving students in grades K-12 throughout South Carolina. LCCA is authorized under state law by the Charter Institute of Erskine and operated by Lowcountry Connections Academy, a nonprofit corporation, through a contract with Connections Academy LLC. Connections Academy, a division of Connections Education, is accredited by Cognia, and LCCA is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges & Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement.
Position Summary and Responsibilities
LCCA is seeking a dynamic, professionally driven Career and Technical Education (CTE) Teacher with a passion for bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world career readiness. This is a unique and rewarding home-based remote teaching opportunity to shape the futures of high school students across South Carolina by expanding Work Based Learning (WBL) opportunities and building meaningful connections between education and industry. With our unique Learning Management System, other digital tools, and various curriculum resources they will consult regularly with Learning Coaches and students to ensure that each child successfully completes their College and Career Readiness instructional programming.
The High School CTE Teacher will be responsible for the successful completion of the following tasks:
- Design and deliver engaging, career-focused instruction across relevant CTE pathways, helping students develop the technical knowledge, professional skills, and industry awareness needed to thrive in today's competitive workforce.
- Coordinate and expand Work Based Learning opportunities, including internships, job shadowing experiences, career panels, industry site visits, and other hands-on, experiential learning activities that bring classroom concepts to life.
- Build and sustain meaningful partnerships with local businesses, industry professionals, workforce development organizations, and community stakeholders to ensure that LCCA's CTE programming remains current, relevant, and aligned with regional and statewide labor market needs.
- Support students in earning industry-recognized certifications, guiding them through preparation, registration, and completion of credentialing exams that enhance their marketability and career readiness upon graduation.
- Leverage LCCA's digital infrastructure, Learning Management System (LMS) and a suite of digital tools and curriculum resources, to deliver instruction effectively in a virtual environment and monitor student progress with precision and care.
- Support students and parents with alternate strategies and provide additional assistance with daily assignments and projects;
- Keep student records and data up-to-date, including online student and family information, attendance accounting, and logging of all student and parent contacts;
- Consult with team members and staff learning specialists to develop alternate enrichment activities and modifications to students’ programs to increase student understanding;
- Devise and implement virtual methods of creating and maintaining a “school community”;
- Participate in the organization and administration of the State Testing, as directed;
- Participate in student recruiting sessions and other marketing efforts that require teacher representation.
- Attend field trips and other community activities implemented for families;
- Other duties as assigned.
Documentation & Accountability
- Maintain timely and accurate documentation of attendance, interventions, communications, and instructional decisions in school systems.
- Consult regularly with Learning Coaches (parents and guardians who support students in the virtual learning environment) to provide guidance, share progress updates, and ensure that each student is actively engaged with and successfully completing their College and Career Readiness coursework.
Collaboration & Professional Practice
- Collaborate closely with colleagues including fellow teachers, counselors, and administrative staff, to integrate CTE concepts into a comprehensive, cohesive educational experience that supports the whole student.
- Consult with teachers, counselors, and other staff to develop alternative enrichment activities, accommodations, and instructional modifications to increase students' understanding.
- Work with School Counselors to ensure students and families receive appropriate communications, students are making adequate progress, and established goals are being met;
- Collaborate within the school’s professional learning community to continuously monitor student data and make strong instructional decisions that have a direct impact on student learning.
Requirements
- Appropriately certified to teach CTE for High Schools in South Carolina
- Holds a 5-12 Multi-occupations (MOC) certification or is willing to obtain an MOC certification
- Knowledge of Perkins Funding is desirable
- Knowledge of CTSO (Career-Technical Student Organizations)
- Strong technology skills (especially with Microsoft OS and MS Office programs)
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written

- Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
- Team player track record
- Willingness to travel on occasion for school-based meetings, training, marketing, and state testing events (may require occasional overnight travel)
- Ability to work remotely, if necessary
- Ability to work some occasional evening hours, as needed to support some families
- Must be able to use a personal electronic device and email address for 2-step authentication
