Home Energy Auditor
Position Overview
Ryan Plumbing and Heating Home Comfort department is looking for an Energy Auditor to join our growing team. In this role, you'll go into homes across the Rochester area and help homeowners of low-to-moderate income families improve their energy efficiency through New York State's NYSERDA grant programs. You'll assess homes, identify opportunities for HVAC and insulation upgrades, and play a direct role in lowering energy bills and improving quality of life for our customers.

- Conduct in-home energy audits and assessments for residential customers
- Identify opportunities for HVAC, insulation, and energy efficiency improvements that work best for the home
- Accurately document findings and prepare detailed work proposals in a timely manner
- Explain audit results and recommended upgrades to homeowners in a clear, professional manner
- Continuously keep customer informed how their project is progressing
- Maximizing the amount of work done to every home
- Ensure all proposals meet NYSERDA program requirements
- Represent Ryan Plumbing and Heating professionally in customers' homes at all times
- Work closely with the install team to ensure smooth handoff and project completion
- Acting as liaison for the insulating and electrical subcontractors as well as landlords
- Ability to maneuver up to 100 lbs. periodically, as well as climb ladders and access attics, crawl spaces, and basements as needed
- Stay current on NYSERDA program guidelines, energy codes, and best practices
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in assessments and documentation
- Excellent communication skills and a customer-first attitude
- Comfortable working independently in the field and managing your customer load
- Willingness to learn and grow (training and certification support provided)
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Professional appearance and conduct, as this role involves regular in-home customer interaction
- Basic computer/tablet proficiency (company-provided phone, iPad, and computer will be issued)
