Housekeeping Room Attendant

Main Role and Duties

The Housekeeping Room Attendant is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness, comfort, and overall upkeep of guest rooms and common areas. As a front-line member of the housekeeping team, this role is vital in delivering a pleasant and hygienic experience to all guests through high cleaning standards and attention to detail.

A) Daily Cleaning Duties

  • Clean and prepare guest rooms including changing bed linens, dusting, vacuuming, mopping floors, and sanitizing bathrooms
  • Replenish room supplies such as toiletries, towels, water, and in-room amenities
  • Ensure room setups meet property standards and cleanliness requirements before guest check-in

B) Common Area Upkeep

  • Maintain cleanliness in hallways, elevators, lobbies, staff corridors, and other public areas
  • Empty trash bins and ensure all designated areas are tidy and presentable

C) Linen and Laundry

  • Collect and transport soiled linen to the laundry area
  • Restock clean linens and report any shortages or damages
  • Handle guest laundry requests if applicable

D) Guest Requests and Interaction

  • Attend to guest requests such as providing extra towels, pillows, or other in-room items
  • Respond politely and professionally to guest inquiries or minor concerns
  • Report any guest complaints to the Housekeeping Supervisor for follow-up

E) Room Inspection & Maintenance Reporting

  • Report maintenance issues such as broken furniture, plumbing problems, or electrical faults
  • Ensure proper use and care of housekeeping equipment and supplies
  • Adhere to room inspection checklists and cleaning protocols

F) Health & Safety Compliance

  • Use cleaning chemicals and tools safely and in accordance with health regulations
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
  • Follow hygiene, sanitation, and COVID-19 safety procedures where applicable

G) General

  • Uphold grooming standards and wear a clean, complete uniform at all times
  • Display a polite, respectful, and service-oriented attitude
  • Handle guest items and property with care and respect
  • Maintain confidentiality and privacy of guests at all times
