Housing Management Assistant
The position is located within the Greater Los Angeles VA Medical Center (VAMC) in Ventura, California. The primary purpose of the Housing Management Assistant is to link Veterans in the HUD VASH program to permanent housing. The Housing Management Assistant will establish and maintain relationships with landlords, private agencies, non-profit agencies, and governmental agencies who serve the homeless, as well as VA staff who work with Veterans in need of transitional or permanent housing.
Assist Veterans with the housing search and lease up process by acting as a liaison between all parties, including but not limited to the VA, PHA, landlord, and Veteran, to address housing needs. Identify and contact local landlords and realtors to find potential housing units for Veterans to lease as well as maintain a database of landlords and property management companies that accept HCV subsidies Assist with gathering of required documents needed to obtain security deposits, knowledge of funding sources for security deposit assistance, and the ability to educate Veterans on the funding resources available. Provide transportation for Veterans as needed to assist with housing leads and applications for housing.
