HR Administrator/Assistant - Full-Time - Burlington, ON (Co-op Students Welcome!)

Looking to gain hands-on HR experience? As an HR Assistant, you’ll work closely with the HR Manager and be a go-to support for the team. You’ll help with day-to-day HR tasks and get exposure to key areas like recruitment, onboarding, employee records, and workplace programs.

In this role, you’ll also serve as a first point of contact for employee questions while supporting administrative and operational HR processes. From helping keep employee information organized to assisting with policy administration and compliance (including the Canada Labour Code), you’ll play an important part in keeping things running smoothly.

What You’ll be Responsible For:

  • Serve as a first point of contact for general Human Resources inquiries.
  • Provide support with recruiting, including job postings, first level screening, coordinating interviews, facilitating background/references checks, including creating and extending internal and external offer letters.
  • Collect, track and follow-up on HR onboarding and offboarding requirements, including compliance with the onboarding process; using the HRIS (Zoho People), enter and update new, existing and departing employee information and updating employee files.
  • Support with coordinating employee benefits enrollment and changes.
  • Under the guidance of Human Resources Manager; support with administration of leaves (e.g., medical leave, personal leave, maternity/parental leave, etc.) and coordinating return-to-work documentation and processes.
  • Work with the Health and Safety Chair and Co-Chair with facilitating Monthly Health and Safety meetings.
  • Work with Chit Chats Social Committee with organizing and facilitating employee engagement programs and events.
  • Participate in implementing new programs, policies and procedures.
  • Other responsibilities and duties as assigned by the Human Resources Manager.
  • Currently enrolled in Human Resources Management program or related field, in a registered co-op program preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail while managing multiple priorities in an ever-changing environment.
  • Intellectually curious about new and best practices, thinking outside of the box, and process improvement.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A high degree of confidentiality and discretion.
  • High level of communication and organizational skills.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, strong organizational skills, and ability to prioritize.

Total Rewards and Compensation:

  • Salary: Starting $43,000.00 per annum.
  • Co-op students welcome to apply: Students currently enrolled in a post secondary institution for co-op are welcome to apply; position may transition into a permanent full-time upon completion of program.
  • Employer paid Group Benefits (Health, Dental and Vision; 80% coverage). After 3 months.
  • Annual Year-End Bonus.
