The HSE Specialist will assist with the development & implementation of Seppic’s Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) activities in compliance with federal, state, local, and corporate requirements.
Collaborates with personnel and external agencies to ensure the overall HSE strategy is successful, minimizing Seppic’s safety, environmental, and security risks.
Ensure the site maintains a continuous state of compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
Read, interpret, and apply regulations, consensus standards, and internal HSE documents.
Responsible for assisting with the development and deployment of HSE requirements.
Assist with compliance tasks associated with the site’s environmental permits for air, stormwater, and wastewater.
Assist with management of the site's hazardous waste program as a large quantity generator, and site non-hazardous waste activities to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Assist with the development and implementation of site sustainability improvements.
Deliver training on HSE programs.
Assist with hazardous material shipments by ground, air, and vessel.
Conduct job hazard analysis for routine and non-routine work.
Assists departments with on-demand hazard recognition and the completion of safe work permits for non-routine work tasks including but not limited to LOTO, confined space entry, working-at-heights, line breaks, hot work, hazardous chemicals, scaffolding, and the use of MEWPs and powered industrial trucks.
Collaborates with all departments to support effectiveness of policies and procedures and identify gaps in programs to continually reduce the site’s overall risk.
Empowers departments to drive safety performance improvements and the identification and mitigation of hazards.
Participates in investigations of incidents and near misses, root cause analysis, and the development of corrective actions by applying HOP and Just Culture principles.
Drives completion of preventive and corrective actions.
Inspects and maintains safety equipment, including fire extinguishers, safety showers, eyewash stations, spill kits, and AEDs.
Assist with site industrial hygiene activities to monitor and mitigate hazardous exposures.
Assist with emergency preparedness activities and with emergency drills on all shifts.
Assist with contractor safety management and oversee contractor activities.
Assist with management of the site security plan.
Assist with PSM compliance tasks.
Partner with other departments for special projects and program development.
Maintain the web-based safety data sheet system.
Track, compile, and report safety and environmental data in various internal and external software applications.
Assists with preparation of safety and environmental reports.
Assists with regulatory inspections and internal audits.
Other duties as assigned.

Are you a MATCH?
Required
5 years of experience in an industrial setting where at least 50% of responsibilities were
related to implementing and/or developing HSE programs.
Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and DOT requirements through training or
experience.
Demonstrable experience handling chemicals and/or hazardous waste.
Comfort working in an office environment with computers and in the field including during
periods of inclement weather and emergency situations.
Ability to lift 50lbs, climb ladders, ascend/descend stairs, and work in hot, cold, and loud
environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in safety or environmental field.
3-5 years experience managing safety programs in a manufacturing environment.
Completion of OSHA 30 and RCRA training courses.
First Aid/CPR/AED training.
Formal training in HOP/HPI/HOF.
