Position Summary

Provide human resources services to management, staff and the public in areas such as recruitment, selection and employment activities, employee relations, employee benefits, classification, compensation, training and development, human resources information systems and records management. Develops, recommends, establishes and communicates human resources services, programs and procedures which recognize and respond to the different needs and concerns of La Posada.

Essential Functions

  • Keeps employee records up to date by processing employee status changes in a timely fashion.
  • Assists units in the use of performance management tools, corrective action plans, and effecting disciplinary actions.
  • Assists the HR leader with preparing advice and direction to management on the appropriate disciplinary action, including the preparation of documentation; investigates, mediates and proposes settlements of employee complaints and grievances
  • Assists in the design and delivery of training and development programs.
  • Oversee La Posada’s reward and recognition initiatives; coordinates recognition initiatives in conformance with established policies and procedures.
  • Promotes human resources organizational fitness and vitality by conducting research, analyses and studies to address significant issues and problems related to human resources; recommends or initiates programs, actions or services to resolve problems.
  • Provide training and/or orientations for current employees, new hires and temporary employees on human resources related areas.
  • Analyze confidential information or situations and prepare recommendations for appropriate action.
  • Conduct research studies, analyze data, prepare related reports on a variety of topics, and make recommendations based on findings.
  • Investigates proposed legislation related to specialized areas and makes recommendations for compliance.
  • Assist employees and others by providing technical information to ensure individuals have a good understanding of human resources processes and operational procedures.
  • Serve as backup for payroll functions.
  • Represents department as requested both internally and externally on dealing with human resources matters.
  • Manage and direct the operations of a complex and complicated human resources projects and modules such as integrated human resources information systems.
  • Coordinate and direct the reporting capabilities from the various databases maintained or used by human resources such the HRIS system.
  • Participate in cross-training in other areas of human resources.
  • Participates in additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor, aligned with qualifications and can be reasonably expected to be completed with minimal orientation.

Skills and Abilities

Education: Preferred Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, Education, or Public Administration.

Experience: 2 plus years of experience in Human Resources demonstrated experience showing the knowledge, skills and abilities to handle a diverse array of human resources functions, challenges and situations at a variety of levels within a large organization.

Computer Skills: Must be proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, databases, and able to learn department specific programs easily.

Other Skills

Communication: Bilingual English/Spanish required.
