HVAC Technician — Service & Install (Commercial)

Retrofit Technology has been retrofitting Southern California's commercial buildings since 1989 — chillers, cooling towers, chilled water systems, refrigeration, and the mechanical guts that keep facilities running. We don't do new construction and we don't do residential. We install modern cooling and heating technology into yesterday's buildings, which means every job is a real problem to solve, not a cookie-cutter install. In 2023 we were acquired by Kelso Industries, a ~$1.2B platform — national backing with the culture of a shop that still knows everybody's name. We're growing 40%+ year over year and hiring because we have more work than hands.

The Role
Two experienced HVAC technicians who can both service and install commercial refrigeration and chilled water systems, working alongside foremen and techs who know their trade. This isn't a parts-changer job. We want people who understand systems.

What You'll Do

  • Install and service commercial chilled water systems and refrigeration equipment
  • Install fan coils, split systems, air handlers, and related mechanical equipment
  • Pipefitting: copper brazing and soldering, threaded steel
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and commission systems in occupied commercial buildings
  • Work cleanly and safely on customer sites and represent Retrofit professionally

What We're Looking For

  • Hands-on commercial HVAC experience (service and/or install)
  • EPA Section 608 certification
  • Experience with fan coils and split systems
  • Pipefitting skills — copper braze/solder and threaded steel
  • Chilled water or commercial refrigeration experience strongly preferred
  • A clean driver's license and a work ethic that doesn't need babysitting

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from our lowest geographic market up to our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Kelso Industries is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered and forms of compensation that may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
